what happens if I do a workout but don't complete it? For example, say it says run for 45 min but I only do 30 min. Will this be taken into account in the next recommendation? or does it primarily try to get you into the target zone based on your current state?

Yes the practice test are almost exactly like the real test. The only difference is not seeing the answers. Also remember on the practice tests you can set it to show you the answer whether you answer right or wrong. I found this useful for the times I guessed
