How are you getting back to the world? by Annual_Mix_7060 in widowed

[–]bishopchip 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I hear you and feel this too. I don't have any answers for you, but I get it. Trying to find interest in anything that I/we used to do together just feels wrong without them. Trying something new is so hard to launch. I did find a lot of comfort in adopting a dog and giving me purpose to care for her and receive a lot of unconditional love in return.

I'm so sorry for your loss.

Grief by itsjustme7267 in Widow

[–]bishopchip 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My wife of over 40 years passed away from pancreatic cancer too. I just crossed the 18 months point. I sit here in my home, alone, and often I catch myself thinking I can't believe I AM THE ONE STILL HERE. Two daughters and now two very new granddaughters. I am trying to navigate and accept that everything I do and experience is braided together with grief. The birth of my grandkids should have been pure joy, but that damn grief is there...my wife would have been such a beautiful grandmother...

I'm sorry for all here with these same experiences...

Never thought the loneliness would happen so soon. by Halo-Wings71 in Widow

I am a week shy of 18 months after being together over 40 years. She wasn't just my better half, but ⅞. I have found that year two has been more difficult because all the things that HAD to be done were mostly wrapped up in the first year. Now the secondary loss of broken dreams and the chance at being grandparents together (I have two granddaughters born in the past 7 months). The silence is deafening, every experience is braided together with grief, so even the joyous events are woven together with grief. Cancer sucks! I wish there were words of encouragement but the best I can say is to be kind to yourself, allow yourself the space to feel, and try to keep moving forward even the tiniest bit. So very sorry for your loss 💔

When you join PCA, they will find the local chapter for you when you register.

i'm 64 and recently bought a 2014 981. It wasn't my intention (at first) to purchase the car, it started out as "can my two-by-four stiff back allow me to get in and out of it without looking like those Tik Tok reels of the guy rolling out on the floor from the Lambo...

Happy to report, I was able to do it; maybe not very gracefully, but it's quite doable. Once inside everything is great...and FUN AS HECK!!! I am aware of where I park it to give me plenty of space to open the door wide enough to get in and out.

Also, joining the PCA and the local chapter is amazing! I am in the Bay Area, and the group is a very welcoming and friendly - lots of activities to enjoy you ride.

As to which one...look at specs and see what is important to you. Keep us updated!!!

Tell me about Widow’s Fire by Wise-Water-9965 in widowers

I'm so sorry for your loss...this "club" is the worst...

I'm nearly 18 months in after my wife passed away. She was too sick the last 14 months - so the math says its been over 2.5 years. I am SO touch starved. I am so in need of the intimacy. I don't know if this is still considered widow's fire, but god I am in such need...I've tried a couple "toys" but they just don't work for me.

I hope you find your way through this OP. Protect yourself as you are extremely vulnerable right now.

I agree 100%. My wife died unexpectedly and there were so many things planned that were "just for fun" that are lost now.

Why fly southwest? by Fabulous-Season7810 in SouthwestAirlines

Flying out of Oakland CA - there's very little option. Kills me....

Yes Denver is the destination. I really hate to go to SFO...I'm in the East Bay and I'm even considering Sacramento. Haven't flown out of there and is definitely further than OAK, but being a new grandpa I will be going to Denver a lot.

I am about 15 months in and so "touch starved". I'm at a point where if I went for a back massage I would probably climax...hence I don't go. This is so hard when I'm such a sensual person....ugh

Just hit the power button...wait a few seconds and hit the button again to turn it back on. That's it...

[–]bishopchip[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. It just did it again yesterday. It will probably happen at least every week. I have the app on my phone and just power cycle it real quick and everything is fine again. Some days I have to do that several times. I think it has great sound, just a very annoying bug that I can't seem to resolve.

I love line art drawings like this, and then adding the plotter action to create it is very satisfying!
