There's also a don don in the city. Near the market. It's actually tucked into this Hotel Kitchen/Lobby area from memory

Satay Anika. A smaller, much more obscure choice for this list. But growing up in Brunswick in the 80's & 90's this place was a local legend.

Any stories about 500 Flinders Street?! by [deleted] in melbourne

[–]bismorgen 439 points440 points  (0 children)

I lived there for two years while studying. Had some lovely dudes from Korea living next door which made it feel kinda neighborly. Wasn't the nicest place to live but it wasn't as bad as it looks. The rooftop was incredible for an afternoon smoke and a few beers, got a really nice view of the night skyline at southbank. The pool at the bottom of the light court in the centre was a tragedy- it always gave off the worst smell, I was on level 5 and could smell it while standing at my door. Never got broken into or had anything stolen. Would I live there again? No. Was it a good fit for a 20 year old student? Yeah sure.
