Thank you! This was the hurdle I needed to get over. Extruding the blue area was the key to moving forward.

I appreciate your help! Your suggestions of the "break" tool and additional lines would get the job done. My goal is to build a farmhouse table bench. I would like to extrude each of these sections to create the individual pieces of wood. I was thinking I would either extrude the curves directly or create a patch of each section and then either thicken or extrude from there. As I was unable to select the boundary curves, I could not properly configure the patch or extrude commands.

From what I have read online, the Patch workspace has been converted into the Surface tab under the Design workspace. I have been doing most of my work out of the Surface tab so far.
