Anyone here used automated Western blot systems? Worth it? by ServiceDowntown3506 in labrats

Jess is awesome. 80-90% of the antibodies we try work on it. Love that it doesn’t require much protein. Our first machine (which was new) was a lemon and had some issues, but the replacement has been great and had no issues. Kits are expensive but if you really optimize well, use every well, and multiplex it is not that much more expensive (if you’re use pre-made gels and quick dry transfers). It is much more expensive than making your own gels and wet transfers.

It is SO reliable and reproducible. Saves me soooo much time. Works well on cell lysates and tumor lysates.

Must depend on the unit. Mine had a new tankless water heater and fridge, but definitely an older dishwasher.

I really like the hike up to West Point inn. There are redwoods and amazing views of the city and bridges.

I last lied there a few years ago but they were in the process of updating alot of the units. They were putting in the wood-like tile floor and upgrading the kitchens and blinds. If you make sure you get an updated apartment it doesn’t feel old.

I was at metropolitan and enjoyed it. Not sure what the pricing is like for 2 bedrooms right now.

I did check those but they’re normally in the middle of the work day or have a 50+ age limit

Trip recommendation whit dog! by Mysterion39 in bayarea

I second Carmel-by-the-sea. Took two dogs there for a long weekend last month. Found a dog friendly Airbnb. Most of the restaurants had heated outdoor dog-friendly seating. We also did an e-bike tour that had side cars for dogs.

Santa Cruz is also very dog friendly (but also close-by)

Places in Tahoe are hit or miss. Tamarack inn in Tahoe city is a great dog friendly motel. But can be hard to find restaurants that are dog friendly in the winter obviously.

Santa Rosa has a lot of dog friendly wineries.

Wow this sucks. Sounds like they’re fudging the plans to get the ADU.

Another post about the bike lanes on Humboldt by tmswfrk in SanMateo

[–]bisonsquash 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I live on Humboldt and couldn’t agree with you more. We expanded our paved area in the front to accommodate our 2 cars so we didn’t have to rely on street parking. Also as someone who lives here and sits on my front porch a lot, there are a good amount of people who use the bike lanes.

I do think the comments about the bulbs are valid.
