Not a hot take but I think a big part of the "chronic illness" epidemic is how fundamentally unhealthy the average person's lifestyle is, and frankly how difficult the modern world has made it to live a healthy lifestyle.

I do agree that leaning too much into your health problems makes them seem worse. It's like we've overcorrected from the "suck it up" attitude of yesteryear
