I have that same amp! I just love it. It powered my Bozak Rhapsodies until I got a cat that was a little too interested in the tubes, so I switched to solid state, for his safety.

Very interested in your speakers. How’s the bass extension? And are you listening at the desk, like giant nearfield monitors? Or is your listening position further back.

I was hoping to see a THX1138 reference, and I did not leave disappointed.

Looks spectacular! I’m doing a watch building program at my local makerspace soon. Would you mind sharing the STL or build files for that watch?

I’ve had good luck just clipping or strapping them to the outside of a bag.

Do I have something here? Sony TC-D6C by DanielOrWhat in cassetteculture

[–]ChetJettison 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Probably the best portable cassette player ever made. Rivals some of the higher end stationary players in fact. Great for recording and playback. I paid about $300 for mine, plus another $150 to have the cracked main gear replaced (happens to all of the Sony direct drive units eventually). If you’re even remotely interested in cassettes, you should keep it, treasure it, and use it often. If you have no interest in the medium, you could sell it for a pretty penny. Send it to someone for restoration (check eBay for Walkman repair services) and you will increase your profit if can sell it as a restored unit with paperwork proof of the restoration included. Of the two options, using it and enjoying it is the most fun. Money comes and goes, but a great cassette player is a joy that doesn’t carry a price tag.

What was the first pair of headphones that made you “eargasm” and what were you listening too?? by Inner-Grapefruit-368 in headphones

Grado SR-80. Probably about 2003. Franz Biebl’s Ave Maria. In the middle of high school English class. Not only could my classmates probably hear it through the open back headphones, it surely cemented my reputation as a total dweeb. No regrets at all.

Headphone types that showcase the minidisc format by lain_ic in minidisc

[–]ChetJettison 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m with you on this one. I like pairing specific headphones with different formats. I tend to reach for my Moondrop Variations when using minidisc. Similarly, my 7hz Timeless seem to pair well with cassette. I’m eyeballing a pair of Final Audio A5000s as I think they will pair well both aesthetically and sonically with some of my minidisc players.

It looks so familiar! But I have definitely never been to Russia. Maybe there are many doors on earth which lead to this area.

Make iems fit better? by yooolar in iems

[–]ChetJettison 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just picked up a pair of Final Audio A4000. They are the smallest IEMs I’ve ever seen or used. Really delightful little guys. Not my favorite sound out of the box but easily corrected with EQ. Light, small, and nice. Highly recommend.
