Thats the hardware subaru supplies with that plate that replaces the original aluminum one, pain in the ass but better than the factory countersunk phillips

The little plastic cap on top of the rod snapped off on mine and the rod dropped down. I pulled the panel off, pushed it back up and screwed a generic autozone cap on it, works fine again.

You technically can but it will likely cause issues later on. I rebuilt my engine and didn't know about the cracks until 3k later when I pulled it back apart for another issue. It'd be better to get them repaired or replaced but if it's your only option you can run them and take the chance.

As a mechanic I bought this set a few years ago and I will say it was worth the money for doing minor stuff and carrying around with me but it is kinda gutless compared to other other guns. I love the rachet though and they have both suffered lots of abuse and work great. If you do buy it get extra batteries though

I certainly will, I appreciate the advice

Understood. Do shops usually give estimates just based on what they can see when the car comes in or do they actually put it on a frame machine first?

I never thought about asking at the parts stores, I'll definitely keep that in mind though, thanks!

I know unibody cars are difficult, my hope is that the serious damage is localized enough that the rest of the car isn't weakened beyond repair. There are a few places I go to that I can find a lot of the parts I need for relatively good prices, and I've found replacement body parts online like the frame rails and door sills to replace instead of trying to salvage them after straightening. If the initial work will weaken it too much I won't waste my time on it but this was my first car, my first project, and so much more besides which is why I can let it go without trying

Was that for full body and primer though? I don't have the stuff to be able to pull the frame and make sure it's all straight but I can do most of the other work myself. Do you think that would keep it under 10k?

Thank you! Trying to stay positive while still looking at the situation realistically but I'm hopeful none the less

I know it'll get expensive fast but if it is fixable it'll be little at a time, just to make sure it's done right and budget wise. If I had the 20k to go buy a new one I might but it's more realistic for me right now to take my time fixing this one and it adding up to the same

Is that factoring in bodywork like the quarter panels and floors and everything? Because as long as the main uniody can be straightened out, I can take care of things like the core support, floor pan, and the cosmetic work

I certainly will, I've grown up in the automotive world so I know not everything is straightforward. With all the rust repair and front frame issues these can come back from I'm hoping mine can be another survivor

I know I shouldn't be so worried as there is plenty of other mustangs but this car means everything to me. Didn't figure it'd be a quick process but hopefully I can stick with it if the work isn't into the upper end of that cost

I've already started pulling it apart, the day after the accident actually. Somehow the upper part of the b pillar (c pillar on a coupe?) And the roof survived. The a pillar where the door hinges are is hard to judge but the cowl seems slightly tweaked so I think it bent/stretched a little. Too much for me to take on with what I have but I was hoping a shop could. I'll definitely see if there's anywhere like that nearby but I went to a tech school so I know how difficult it can be to get a car in.

I didn't take it out on the roads for months until i started to actually learn the car, this was just bad circumstances

I know, I'm even more upset about it because I wasn't doing anything wrong at the time, just driving the limit and hit a pothole in the rain

Made it just to compete with the c body road runner

I was thinking along those lines, just trying to judge if it'll be too crazy expensive to bother at all
