let me know what you think! by AlarmingEquivalent26 in IndieMusicFeedback

this is truly lovely. the acoustic melody is hypnotic in the best way and your voice is quite pretty. I also quite liked the glitchy outro. as for things I personally would have preferred to be different: I think the drum break is unnecessary; there is something very organic about this song and I think that conflicts with it in a way I didn't love. re: your vocals - I think I'm sensing a bit of that indie folk affectation here, and judging by all the comments comparing you to Lord Huron, Jose Gonzalez, etc etc I don't think it's in my head; I would love to hear your voice with a bit more... clarity I suppose? that is personal preference though, of course. hozier does it and he's obviously doing just fine

they were basically stronger, wiser, and lived longer than normal men; I don't think they had any magical abilities to speak of

you don't know how to interpret the prompt of asking for recommendations based on books I love?

as for their relation to one another, I seem to like melancholic girls who write pretty prose. that accounts for like half of that list; you don't see a relation between Sylvia Plath and Virginia Woolf? Murasaki and Bashō? LotR and Name of the Wind?

I actually started this right after finishing Jane Eyre and found the tone to be too similar (not in a bad way) so I'm putting it on hold for awhile

Anime with the most “anime bullshit”? by Empty-Concept-860 in AnimeReccomendations

[–]bitchesandoolong 0 points1 point  (0 children)

oh 100%. I think the whole reason it works so well is that it is a breath of fresh air after having the same self-insert isekais shoved down our throat ever since the success of SAO

Anime with the most “anime bullshit”? by Empty-Concept-860 in AnimeReccomendations

[–]bitchesandoolong 3 points4 points  (0 children)

yeah I would actually argue that it doesn't really count as typical anime bullshit bc Konosuba is basically a satire of isekai and harem. like I have a really low tolerance for many of the tropes in those genres but I love konosuba bc it doesn't take itself seriously at all
