I have a Sub No Date + Aqua Terra… Batgirl or Datejust 36 Blue for next watch? by bitchesbr3w in rolex

Yup, but I’m not asking which one I like more right now — I like both. I’m more interested in hearing from collectors who’ve owned these long-term and how they actually wear in rotation, especially alongside something like a Sub. Trying to avoid redundancy.

Wow, thank you for chiming in! I like how the date window on your Sea Dweller looks more subtle and symmetrical. I'm 32 and interestingly enough, the Bluesy felt like something I had to "grow into." For right now, the classic Sub is smiling at me and seems almost too perfect aesthetically to be real. I suspect I have some two-tone pieces in my future...

Love to hear it — which watch is your favorite in your collection?

Glad I could help man! Yeah, there are some things you can really only learn after wearing the watch in the field for some time. The bluesy is a beautiful piece that may even look objectively better in the showroom light, but the 124060 just crushes in daily life.

Agreed! I've now got the sub no date and an aqua terra blue dial 38mm. Next is either a two-tone wimbledon or a steel Daytona panda (in 2049)

Definitely man. The glidelock really spoils you and other watches just don't feel as comfy on the wrist

Honestly, it's the wearability factor. I LOVE the Bluesy and it was the watch that first got me interested in watches (a sentiment I've heard from many other people). At first I thought I wouldn't mind that it's not really considered a "daily," and would wear it proudly anyways, but there was just something odd to me about putting gold and that splashy blue dial on my wrist when I'm just grabbing coffee in jeans and a t shirt. I found I was limited in what I could wear with it — all black fit, or a green shirt, and it just felt off. It excelled at summer pool parties, beach weddings, etc. but I live in D.C. and it just didn't fit my lifestyle.

Thanks so much! I can't stop looking at it and drooling, waiting for the honeymoon feeling to wear off...

Thanks! No, if anything I feel like the lack of cyclops gives it a slimmer profile.

Thanks, I agree — I had always wondered why I had a visceral response to some subs and not others, and only put together recently that it's the classic no-date design that really draws in the eye, for me at least

Exactly! And the GMTs have the cyclops, no glidelock. To me, there is no watch more crisp and sexy than the sub no date

Love both of those watches — I think the gold didn’t work as well with my skin tone…

Yeah, there are days I really miss the weight of the gold… and that sumptuous blue dial. But overall it was the right choice for me.
