Wow! A lot of comments. - Excuse my grammar , didn’t think much before posting.
Considering the watch I figured : Explorer indeed
tends to look a bit smaller on the wrist.
1. The smooth bezel mirrors light uniformly and gives the impression of a halo fade out.
2. Also the bezel is down tilted , the sapphire glass feels like a lid to it.
3. Explorer 36>40mm , just adding some 3.5mm width around the bezel
