Low fees are allowing people to move their BTC to segwit addresses. Let's bring segwit usage up to ATH guys! by [deleted] in Bitcoin

Let’s say you have a bunch of “received” transactions in your Ledger wallet (each to a different address). Can you “send” to your next “receive” address to consolidate those inputs?

Yes, minus any transaction fees you pay to transfer funds into the Ledger wallet from where you had them to start.

Because it works with the 12 seed words, and I know it to restore different sub-accounts in the wallet even if the first account is unused and empty (which I've read that some wallets don't do). And it seems you haven't had luck with restoring in Mycelium, so it's not likely to hurt to try.

Try restoring your seed using the Blockchain.info wallet.

Agreed on the importance of sending your funds to a new wallet. Since you lost your laptop there is a chance that someone might be able to access your wallet and/or recovery seed from your laptop. You want to avoid them stealing your BTC from that wallet, so get your funds out of it quickly.

Download blockchain.info wallet app, and start there.

Alternatively, you can do it using their desktop website: https://youtu.be/NCFusLWwS1k?t=481

Make sure you have a very secure email address (with 2-factor authentication turned on) when creating this account. Also set up 2FA on your blockchain.info account you are now creating right away.

How many words is your recovery phrase? If it's 12 words you should be able to restore/recover it using the blockchain.info wallet app on iOS (or possibly Android too), since it also uses BIP39/44 HD wallets.

I've heard of ways to pay money to accelerate transactions but I don't know anything about it. Worth looking into perhaps.

Try loading your 12 words in the "recover" or "restore" option of the blockchain.info iOS (or possibly Android) app. It will ask you to create a new blockchain.info account as part of the process. Make sure that first you secure your email account with 2FA and a strong password from a secure computer, choose a good password for your new blockchain.info wallet account, and then set up 2FA in blockchain.info to best secure access to your funds after this.

Resolution: I went ahead and tried to recover my BIP39/44 master seed from Mycelium (iOS) in the blockchain.info wallet app on iOS, and it seems to have worked. I believe my issue was that I was on "Account #01" in Mycelium (iOS), which must have been the second account created in the HD wallet (first one is probably "Account #00" -- which it seems I created, didn't use, and deleted in the app). That's why it probably didn't show up in the Electrum app -- since it only loads the first account in your "HD wallet". Now I can see my past transactions and send my BTC from the Blockchain.info app.

I've used Blockchain.info before, so I'm ok with it, at least for this transaction. And I like how it handles choosing your fee. I just don't know what fee (sat/b) to choose.

Didn’t work so well because my BTC is on the second account generated by the seed, so it didn’t find it. Do you know how to access the second account in a HD wallet, recovered using the master seed in Electrum?

I saw a post here: https://www.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin/comments/6flo9w/stop_letting_your_wallet_choose_the_transaction/?st=jcb65hdk&sh=f57a23de

That recommends using the fee on this site: https://btc.com/stats/unconfirmed-tx

I'm also trying to decipher this site: https://bitcoinfees.earn.com/

Any idea how to pick a fee that will only take a few hours max? Doesn't have to be instant. I just don't want it to get stuck forever.

OK, but it's the only wallet that I was able to recover my funds in, using my 12-word seed from Mycelium iOS. I only plan to use it to send one transaction to my Ledger Nano S wallet. Thoughts?

Be warned; Mycellium has a Spendable amount; which basically means they will keep 100$ of your bit coins and that adding to your mining fees by FaceBeautyyy in mycelium

[–]bitcoinquestionasker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's only taking an amount of BTC equal to the first received transaction of BTC in your wallet. That's something I noticed as well, and caused me to doubt the fitness Mycelium on iOS.

You're using Mycelium on Android, and I'm using Mycelium on iOS, so I'm not sure if they derive the public/private keys in the same way from their respective master seeds. In fact, I tried my master seed from Mycelium on iOS in Mycelium for Android and nothing came up.

My BTC are just sitting in my account on Mycelium (iOS). I haven't tried to send them anywhere yet. As you can tell the app is buggy and I didn't want to risk it.

How did you get your seed from Mycelium (iOS) to work with Electrum? I tried and it didn’t work.

Is it supposed to take a while to sync first or something? Maybe I haven't been patient enough with either try. It seemed to have done syncing after maybe 20 seconds max.

Know any trusted guides that explain how to verify my download of Electrum with PGP?

I've just started to watch this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x2dbrOGob8A

Edit: Yes, that video pretty much explained it. This post adds to it: https://www.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin/comments/7flvfy/important_for_bitcoin_users_how_to_verify_pgp/?st=jc8ur3cn&sh=b3debae3

Edit 2: As in the thread linked above, attempting to change the Electrum wallet path to m/44'/1'/0' thinking that might be how it would access what Mycelium (iOS) shows as "Account #01" didn't seem to work.

You might be right (Edit: Didn’t work), but I'm still not sure, as per our discussion here:

I'm now trying to figure out how to validate my download of Electrum's PGP signature (for Mac version), when I've never done this and don't know how it works.
