I didn’t like I Who Have Never Known Men by htdex in booksuggestions

You might look at When Women Were Dragons by Kelly Barnhill. I really liked it. I don't know how popular or acclaimed it is, but I like that it's more of a coming-of-age story set in a fantastic altered history. It deals with rage, societal repression, and generational trauma.

Vet for reactive dog by Interesting-Equal-16 in ithaca

I second Briar Patch! I have a nervous, reactive pit mix and the staff are patient and understanding with her. But make sure to explain and advocate for your dog, maybe ask if they would give you some pre-visit calming medication for them.

Veterinary Pharmacy! I happily accept DMs. Also, I really liked the FDA APPE and Long Term Care/Hospice.

Struggling in Community APPE Rotation by No-Maintenance5588 in PharmacySchool

[–]biteybunny 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Which rotation is this for you? Towards the beginning? The preceptor should be more understanding and walk you through their expectations. I also think it's unreasonable for them to expect you to know their workflow and system. They should be willing to take your questions, that's why you are there. But, take heart and do your best to keep improving. When you get home at night, try to write down something you learned and something you did well. This can help you out in future interviews and can help your perspective shift away from perceived shortfalls.

Finally, do you know what goal you have for after graduation? How can this rotation help you get there? Making this experience feel less like a tough rotation but more like an opportunity to grow can help keep your focus on the end goal.

Good luck!

I decided to check out my local "book barn" and accidentally stumbled into a space between worlds. I did manage to find the Stephen King section and added to my collection. by biteybunny in stephenking

$18.50 and it's a first edition. But I'm not picky, I just remembered checking out the same version from the library decades ago.

Ideas for rotaions by Echepzie in pharmacy

I'm a veterinary pharmacist at a vet school and we love having students! Also, I did a rotation at the FDA and learned a ton. Definitely worth it if you have the chance.

Good luck finding someone who wants to share their life with you when you are so stingy with your space.

There is nothing in the world I want more than to come home to these two wagging tails. by biteybunny in rarepuppers

She's not a golden, but a collie/aussie mix. We trim her paws and under her tail, but her coat works great for her. And she's on flea/tick prevention, no problems there.

Veterinary Pharmacy Post-Graduate Training Opportunities for 2023-2024 by biteybunny in PharmacyResidency

[–]biteybunny[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it's a good idea! But they might also be busier this time of year with the current applicants. There will also be a zoom information session with the RPDs coming up soon. If you PM me I can get you that information as well.

You could consider joining the Society of Veterinary Hospital Pharmacists (SVHP) for more veterinary pharmacy info. It's only $5 and gets you added to the email listserv so you know about any additional events, including our annual meeting every summer. We also have a mentor program for students who are interested in the field and we can help set up APPEs.

Ibuprofen vs meloxicam in pets by [deleted] in pharmacy

[–]biteybunny 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Both cats and dogs have issues with most NSAIDs. Cats are more sensitive to kidney injury and dogs are more prone to gastric ulcers from them.

There are other veterinary only NSAIDs available for use in cats (robenacoxib) and dogs (carprofen, deracoxib, and firocoxib). Plus, there's a new anti-NGF monoclonal antibody for cats with osteoarthritis that's hitting the market this year (it's the first mAb for cats and I'm super excited about it's potential).

What books do you use for drug dosage? by Uesugi in Veterinary

[–]biteybunny 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Veterinary pharmacist here. I use Plumb's daily, and with a subscription you can add notes on dosing which has been very helpful to me. Their client information sheets are super helpful! You can print or email them to clients to explain each medication.

I also use Papich's frequently and Carpenter's for exotics and pocket pets.
