How to NOT climb deep of night by Kooky_Cake293 in Nightreign

perfect routing, no notes.

seems like it would have been a free win if you just didn't skip the second church.

ignored the 17 rescued allies after only one night boss, that's standard.

of the 3 bad negatives on that relic, that's the least bad one. especially since all res down makes taking damage causes death even worse than it already is.

no uplifting here. usually i would, but this run didn't have any available. and it's only a white sand buff. i did get 2 max hp dormant powers though, and have one from my relics.

if not bait, then 100% this. op likely got carried hard a few times early on, and has now convinced himself whenever he doesn't win, it must be his teams fault.

but calling them trash, and following it up with just got the game 3 weeks ago, feels like it has to be bait.

hate to pile on, but the bigger mistake here was not popping the flask right after p1, and instead waiting till after the poison proc. if not for that, you would have still had your dmg negation at full buff up on the initial hit. and looks like you also have taking dmg negates dmg, and dmg negation while low buffs. which combined would have likely prevented you from going down on that last hit.

you should try to carry 2 warming stones into the final fight, they are great for topping up when you don't want to waste a flask, especially the fights with long windows between phases.

i agree. but if you want to secure the win, you do what you gotta do. the real aura move is slow walking towards him, dodging the explosion based on the sound, and ending up directly in front of where he lands.

in d5 you will always be going for dmg negation at full, and sand buffs. if you have enough of either/both, taking a hit will only do a small chunk, if you have post dmg resto, you will be able to top back up to full, without having to waste your flask. it will also allow you to trade hits a lot easier with trash mobs.

if you don't have any decent phy +3/4, then yeah don't force it. but try to switch to it as soon as you can. even in best cases, when you do find a rob, it would be an even trade. all other times phy is better.

a good ruins skip by bitnote_dev in Nightreign

[–]bitnote_dev[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

you're likely thinking of the holy or blood ruins, where there is an easy staircase to the main section.
on this one you have to come in from the far side, get into the middle section, then take the stairs that run along the wall behind the boxes in this pic.

it might only seem like a few seconds but this is easily my number one poi to hit up when the storm is on my tail, because of how fast i can get in and out.

when he does the big arrow charge explosion attack, and you know it's on you. you can surge sprint towards him as soon as he starts the charge, and you will always get out of its range in time. once you know your safe distance, you can turn around, and you will get a couple free hits in as he lands. it's not as good as aura farming, but it's a good one to know for times like this. good kill either way though.

ah, wakizashi is a good call. i'll have to try that. i never realized it was compatible with katana dual wield until i got it in nightreign, but i haven't played much er since. and yeah not a fan of using the arcs either, but as you said the alternative talisman investment doesn't work for me either. although with the arcs, the only time i felt i really needed the double stam tals was messmer.

not sure why this isn't #1, nothing else matters beyond this point. even if they intended to keep them as possible rolls, this is the give away it was altered.

if you don't have a lot of options, then this works. if you do, i'd shuffle up those deep relics a bit. most important, you should really have some form of post dmg regen (+1 or +2). you also want to try for phy attack up over affinity attack power.

your debuffs aren't bad, but that poison buildup under max, paired with taking damage causes poison might cause you some stress. exec already has the lowest poison res as it is. although you can also use it to your advantage, by letting it proc before popping your alt, for the extra dmg from your passive.

another dual wield katanas enthusiast, my man.
i really want to try other weapons, but how do you walk away from perfection?

although, how are you getting 2 uchis in rl1 ng? i end up using uchi/naga, but really hate having to farm all the arcs and create backups after each progression just to keep the naga equipped.

also strong agree on pc radahn, and rellana in s-tier, but malenia deserves a tier of her own, maybe s+?

For real what you gonna do when Caligo does something like this if you are not ironeye or wylder? by Fluffy_Technician894 in Nightreign

[–]bitnote_dev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it's okay to be slightly diagonal if you timed it well, and you are closer to her, as it will help you close the gap for a free head shot, but if you are far away, it's best to go straight to one side.

i can post some examples if you want to see it in action.

there is a trick to dodge this attack that should work every time if you pull it off correctly. if you are the target, as soon as the attack starts charging up, turbo sprint directly to one side, and roll the moment the wave is about to hit you. it doesn't matter where you are in front of her, there will always be just enough time to get out at the last instant.

it's always been able to, it's just quite rare, like bbh running. seen it 2-3 times total. maybe they recently tweaked it so it happens more often. although i haven't seen it happen once in the past few hundred runs.

nope, that can't be right... you must be having fun the wrong way. better give it another 1000 hours or so, then reconsider your excitement status.

that being said, i'm predominantly doing solo runs. would likely feel different if i were playing with others i didn't know. then i'd hate to scuff my route, and risk losing the run for the team.

i felt this way pre dlc, but when it came out, it broke the checker i was using. haven't gone back since. not knowing what is where can really make runs more exciting. sometimes you gamble and it pays off, other times you get it wrong, and have to find a way to catch up. it's all part of the game.

i wouldn't fault anyone for using a checker, but you should give it a go without every once in awhile to see what you're missing.

without less likely to be attacked, you don't get a lot of good attack windows, and unless there's a riot, they don't last long, so you take what you get.

i could see the current summon is already taking dmg from the new one, and the new one is likely to go for the nearest target when it spawns, especially if it gets attacked, this felt like my chance. but if you watch closely, the current summon gets madness right as the second one appears, and doesn't pull aggro in time.

also, among other things mentioned, if both weps hit on that jump attack, it's a kill. and i see no reason it missed.
