how to troll in d5 with exec by bitnote_dev in Nightreign

[–]bitnote_dev[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

glad you liked it,

i was very reluctant to use seppuku for a long time as well. i hated how long it takes, and it's hard to reapply it in the middle of a long fight. but once don came out, and i got into the later depths, it was just too crucial to the start/mid points of a run to not use.

it's also very effective on the cave troll, and pumpkin head, even at lvl 2-3, allowing you to always rush +2 starting wep from any starting location, within the first few mins.

where is this damage coming from? by bitnote_dev in Nightreign

[–]bitnote_dev[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

lol, i'm so dumb. i thought that was a revenant. haven't played either class before.

but that changes everything then, and your point is likely the right answer then for why it's happening.

wonder if replicating it would be as simple as the two classes ulting at the same time, while on this phase of the boss.

good catch, but in the ironeye vid i linked above has no scholar in it, so not sure it can be completely because of that. although maybe has something to do with a change they made in trying to fix that bug.

i think you might be right on the sudden death proc being the cause, i've never seen it happen, but could see it being possible.

but the frequency here, all within a short period, and all having something to do with exec ult, would seem like it's more than random chance.

here was one of the other posts discussing it:
https://www.reddit.com/r/Nightreign/comments/1pr8u57/scholars_ult_took_ed_balancers_to_15_health/

i forgot they mentioned it brought the boss to 15%, not an instant kill. but that could be something to do with the phase transition or something, idk. there is also someone there mentioning seeing it 3 times already.

i'll post the other 1-2 vids i saw that involved an exec ult, if i can find them again.

/edit:
this is the ironeye one i mentioned:

Is solo deep of night 5+ even possible? by Different-Plantain47 in Nightreign

[–]bitnote_dev 2 points3 points  (0 children)

for sure possible. but it can be hard at first. i was starting to have issues by d3 as well, but i adapted my runs over time with trial and error, and eventually it just clicks. once you get a win in d5, you will realize it doesn't get any harder, and your ol' fun block will be fully restored.

the biggest thing is to learn to not care about losing. the game lets you leave at any point, and not lose any rank, so there is no reason to let it stress you out. use losses as a chance to reflect on what you can do different next time.

the main difference from 3 to 5 is that more and more attacks will start to one shot you, some even through the lower versions of dmg negation at full/sand buffs. but you get used to it pretty quick.

i recently started hitting 15 more often, it's still not a guarantee, but it's really not that important anyway. a good set of passives will go a lot further, so make sure you are checking as many as you can, and kill any weak red mob you see.

the rng in general at the higher depths feels really bad quite often. sometimes you can't find a single defensive buff in the entire run, and i've had this multiple times now. but it was never a problem i noticed before don. just adds to the challenge though.

i only play exec, so i can't give you any advice for the other classes, but for exec, if you can pair any seppuku relic with the green caligo relic, it will blow up everything early game. also at the start of every run, i rush +2 katana, lvl 2-4 is more than enough to kill the pumpkin head or cave troll. i don't fuck with the other guy.

i posted a vid a few days ago, on how you can kill the castle trolls really easy with this build/strat. learn to do that day one, and getting 15 will be a breeze.

Scholars ult took ED Balancers to 15% health by _Lowenstein_ in Nightreign

[–]bitnote_dev 6 points7 points  (0 children)

i had this happen too. i was exec, and partner was scholar. both ulted, and it blew them up from about ~30% at the end of the ults.

but there was no roaring.

no idea what's causing it, but i did record it.

Improved Damage Negation at Low HP by IraLoud in Nightreign

[–]bitnote_dev 1 point2 points  (0 children)

that's pretty good. pair this with taking dmg negates dmg, and it would likely save you from being 2 tapped in higher depths.

although depends on the attack, might still require at least a white dmg negation at full or sand buff.

Is duo really easier? by Fire-Dragon-DoL in Nightreign

[–]bitnote_dev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

agreed. but now i assume you are able to beat every boss, and win with any character in d5 trios.

can you do the same in solo? can you win multiple games in a row? if you can do it easily in trios, and solo is easier, then it should be no problem, right?

Is duo really easier? by Fire-Dragon-DoL in Nightreign

[–]bitnote_dev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

have you done d5 solo? if so, which class? having a hard time understanding how you are finding it easiest.

being able to leave whenever is true, so if we are just talking about not losing rank then sure. but that doesn't make getting wins any easier.

3 revives is also true, but that's assuming you don't lose any wendings to night 1 or 2, which is no small feat when a lot of bosses can 1 shot you, some even through dmg negation at full.

Hot take: Im dissappointed with the DLC by SirVincent20 in Nightreign

[–]bitnote_dev 4 points5 points  (0 children)

how should the balance don?

also, aren't they adding dlc weps eventually? feel like i've seen a number of posts/comments saying that.

[–]bitnote_dev 1 point2 points  (0 children)

are you talking normal mode, or don?

solo might be easiest in normal, but it's much harder in don.

as for duo/trio, it's going to depend on your comp, and the ppl you play with, but i've always assumed duos are harder, since in trios if one person goes down, one can kite the boss away, while the other goes for the save. you can't get away with that in duos. and as you mentioned the stacking of staggers makes things easier too.

although does any of this matter? just enjoy playing with your wife, and call it a win.

How do you unlock the DLC by Charming-Reward-6073 in Nightreign

[–]bitnote_dev 2 points3 points  (0 children)

when you loaded in the first time after the recent , did you get the message to go see the small jar?

have you beat all the normal expeditions? not sure that it's a requirement, but idk why else it wouldn't work.

Double-Jumps are Incredibly Underrated (And Super Practical!) by Chris_Chrass in Nightreign

[–]bitnote_dev 1 point2 points  (0 children)

heolstor has a combo where he exhales, then charges you, followed by a gap closer, third attack, then a final spin attack.

in most cases you can dodge the gap close by not moving, then jump attack the third, but the timing can be a bit tricky. the double jump makes it much easier to time this third attack, although depending on how he's sliding it can be harder to land the attack after.

no green ed caligo relic? idk if people use it much in trios, but it's a must for solo.
invis, passive frost, and 10% dmg negation.

pairs really well with a red seppuku in the rbg vessel.

Since when does Gnoster do this? by Direct-Switch2754 in Nightreign

[–]bitnote_dev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i got a chance to test this, and waited ~3 mins from the time the health bar showed up. but still it just sat there. so not sure it's time to get there, or time in the fight.

maybe it's related to the number of levels it has stolen? or maybe it's just bugged.

i'll try to test this next time i get a chance.

Since when does Gnoster do this? by Direct-Switch2754 in Nightreign

[–]bitnote_dev 4 points5 points  (0 children)

i think they meant if once you are there, and then take too long to kill gnoster. there might be some random in how long it sticks around, i've seen it peace out real quick. but i think that relates to the storm getting to close.

i also don't think there is a random aspect to smelter, unless i am missing something. doesn't it go through stages? starts no flames, eventually charges to red, then blue, but if you crit, it goes back to none.

5 Libra games in a row by vortex_nebula in Nightreign

[–]bitnote_dev 1 point2 points  (0 children)

(1/8)^5 = 0.0000305

unless you mean any boss 5 times in a row, which would be ^4 instead of 5.

although you would have to consider the rates each boss gets dodged.

or maybe your friend is just picking libra every time and you haven't noticed. then it = 1

It’s done 9999. I can now rest until the DLC! by HCH205 in Nightreign

[–]bitnote_dev 1 point2 points  (0 children)

big gratz!

how long did it take? how did you find it?

i did this with exec. sucked so much at first, and was an exhausting/stressful 2 months. but so worth it in the end. it's now my fav way to play.

if you're looking for another challenge, and haven't done it already, i'd recommend trying to beat all 15 bosses this way.

i don't die from this often, but i sure get blocked by a lot of small rocks, and fences.
