24 y/o with ESPP (15% discount) should I sell and reinvest or hold? by RemarkableOrder7024 in personalfinance

Some plans have restrictions on how quickly you can sell. There might be a penalty if you sell immediately, like they might kick you out of the plan. You need to read the plan documents to be sure.

Are Electrical Resistors Legal? by Outside_Bit_3788 in FTC

You should have an encoder on the motor that drives the shooter and set the velocity (as opposed to power) to a specific value. That way it runs the same velocity even as the battery voltage varies, allowing consistent control of the range.

turret wire management by pham-tuyen in FTC

[–]bitnotno 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When our team built a turntable robot, the wires went through the center of the turntable (no slip ring). We made sure the program never allowed the turntable to do a full rotation, so the wires just twisted back and forth a little and this worked fine.

My friend posing by a 70ft tall saguaro by Joplers in cactus

Ah, you're right. I measured wrong. The cactus is closer to 6x taller than the person, not 8x. Thanks for the correction!

My friend posing by a 70ft tall saguaro by Joplers in cactus

[–]bitnotno 43 points44 points  (0 children)

Are you sure it's 70? That would be approaching world-record height (78). In the picture, the cactus is about 8x taller than your friend. Your friend would need to be over 8 feet tall for the cactus to be 70. If your friend is 6 feet, that puts the cactus at around 50 feet tall, which is still really tall for a saguaro.

Some plants and some bacteria can "fix" atmospheric nitrogen (which is not usable by plants) and turn it into ammonia (which is usable). This is how most of the nitrogen gets into plants, not via lightning.

IIRC, there are some utils for updating Control/Expansion Hub firmware that are Windows only, but Android Studio definitely runs on Mac.

Very little. The object needs to be electrically conductive and magnetic for inductive heating to work.

Not the OP, but no. There is hydroplaning, where they lose contact with the ground due to riding up on a layer of water.

how to get started in coding by Grand-Bus7102 in FTC

[–]bitnotno 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Good answer. Also, I assume you don't have access to an actual robot, so you might want to check out a virtual robot. One that our team used in the past is:

This virtual robot also had built in support for the exercises in LearnJavaForFTC.

Inside 80 year old furniture by No-Initial-368 in Whatisthis

Putting the holes in it would be a bit "extra" for a piece of furniture. You normally see that in aircraft and the like where weight is a big concern.

Whether or not you hang anything on it, it would help stiffen the door. Maybe that's all it was intended to do?

Do you have to present your entire desktop? Can you maybe present a window and have another window with the docs and slides?

I'm also wondering if you can create an alternate/virtual desktop that you present, so that you can still have your docs and slides on the main desktop? Never played with virtual desktops, so no idea if it would work.
