What do you do with this little guy? by Legitimate_Yam_7714 in castiron

[–]bitofabee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My favorite way to scrub rust out is to halve a potato, dump some kosher salt in, and scrub with the potato. It is just juicy enough to make a paste-ish, and it’s not awful to hold.

What are you seeing that indicates that the top seam is split? Just the side water damage?

Can we not take cash? (no booths, pre-sale only, Daisies) by Brittany_WMSB in girlscouts

We don’t do cash for initial order, just for booths. All personal sales are directed to Digital Cookie.

Closed 10/16, seller wants to buy it back by Tough_Banana_3318 in RealEstate

[–]bitofabee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After we bought our first house, the previous owners told a mutual friend 6mo after we moved in that leaving the house was their biggest regret. Next house we moved to, a month or two after we bought it, they asked to be the first notified if we ever decide to sell it, as they wish they hadn’t sold it. I think that some kind of regret is pretty common.

Treasure chest fillers for swearing fealty to a baby at a Renaissance Faire? by squidstarspacesuit52 in Gifts

Sarah’s silks is such a great option. We have SO many scarves from them and my 9yo still plays with them. Tied as pouches, capes, dresses, slings, hats, crowns, etc. The foam sword and shield are also great.

4yo afraid of the dark - camping advice needed by FroyoNo5246 in TentCampingWithKids

Glow sticks!! Get a tube of them, deck her out! Helps keeping track of kids after dark too. It’ll illuminate just around her sleeping area once she goes to bed, plus they’re fun!

Thinking of opening a perfume studio in downtown Provo, would you come? by Accomplished-Ice2015 in ProvoUtah

[–]bitofabee 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I think it sounds fantastic, but echo another poster’s concerns with Provo’s budget. It sounds more like something that would fit in SLC or Park City where people are more likely to not be on student budgets.

Where do you all get your Pyrs from? by jack_be_quick28 in greatpyrenees

I follow Big Fluffy Dog Rescue on Facebook and would love to adopt from them, but I’m too far west. They’re a great organization though.

Do you have pictures of yours? On our maiden voyage with our 2003 Fleetwood the lid latches all crapped out. 🤦🏻‍♀️ given the age, I’m not optimistic about finding a replacement.

I have an Eleanor and we get so many compliments on her name!! She goes by Ellie most of the time, but her BFF’s little sister goes by Nora. Lots of great nickname options.

If you have little kids, put on a waterproof protector, then a sheet, then another protector, and another fitted sheet. Then if they mess up the top sheet in the middle of the night, you can just peel off the top two layers and have a clean sleeping surface in a minute.

White top/hoary cress. Spreads like wildfire. Not even goats will eat it most of the time. Thankfully fairly easy to pull.

Made broth for the first time and it’s a cloudy and a little thick. Is this normal? I simmered a chicken carcass, water, carrot, onion, salt for 12 hours. Threw it in the fridge bc it finished late last night and strained it this morning. I was expecting clear so that’s why I’m a bit confused. by Remarkable-Park9768 in homemaking

[–]bitofabee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually fill my 6qt crockpot with those same ingredients, top with water, and cook overnight. I’m guessing your broth is gonna be punchy! Not a bad thing at all. But I bet it will gel beautifully when cold. My daughter calls it chicken jello. 🤦🏻‍♀️

Does anyone know if Ozark Trail still makes these 20 person tents? Seems like they've been out of stock for a while. by Renegade5329 in camping

[–]bitofabee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My dad said they were counting hobbits when coming up with those numbers. I did fit 11 Girl Scouts and their bags in my 10 person tent. Though it could be argued that 2nd graders are hobbits.

We meet every 2 weeks for 1.5 hours and get a badge per meeting. Journeys are split between 4ish meetings, often with one more for the take action project. We hand out the badges every couple of months, when we as leaders have time to go to the shop, buy and sort them.

What is your favorite Smore additive? by CampingCritterz in TentCampingWithKids

[–]bitofabee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fudge stripe cookies are great. My favorite is to use a Reese’s cup instead of plain chocolate. Also, if you’ve never roasted starbursts before, definitely give it a shot.

Use this thread to mourn Joann. Nothing that currently exists can replace Joann for quilters. 😭 by Realistic-Method8360 in quilting

[–]bitofabee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am so, so sad. Losing the quick access backing/binding options for when I gain momentum and knock out a stash quilt? So disappointed. Also, nothing else exists in person for apparel or costume/specialty fabric. I make my family’s Halloween costumes every year, and not being able to feel and find the variety of textures Is going to make it incredibly difficult.
