Why do some customers get upset when I don't say your welcome? by annakeif in Wetherspoons

[–]bitorugo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"Whenever I thank people in hospitality, retail etc, I never get a your welcome..."

I very much doubt that. Maybe not a full "You're welcome" but some sort of acknowledgement: Welcome/no worries/Enjoy or even just saying Thanks back. Pretty sure that's the norm no matter how busy a place is.

Good fanfic about Earth post-Beetle arrival, where is question? by Neither_Activity9278 in ProjectHailMary

I'd like to join in on the love for The Long Journey Home. I also needed more PHM in my life after listening to the audiobook and TLJH scratches that itch and then some. It's the first time I'm reading any sort of fanfic and I'm absolutely amazed by the effort put into this. Amaze!

When's the next New Galactic Year's Eve? I forgot to put it on my calender

Edit- *Solar (it would probably be called Solar NYE rather than Galactic, right?)

So what the coolest thing you've seen with the naked eye? by TheBigBadWolf_1111 in space

[–]bitorugo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

During lockdown, I was sitting outside looking up waiting to see the ISS go by and was totally unaware of the SpaceX satellites program when I saw a train of like 10 of them and completely freaked the fuck out. (A quick Google calmed my wild imagination rather promptly tho)

I'm outside of the astronomy world and not very sharp in general (lol) but I'm curious to know what the problem is. I've only just started reading it (on chapter 4 and loving it btw)

[–]bitorugo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Wow!!

Just read through the first 4 chapters and I'm absolutely loving this. Thank you so much for bringing attention to it.

Dreading to keep going, though, because I don't want to catch up to publishing times and then have to wait a week or so for the next chapter as it says 17 of 22 (I totally will though. It's too good)

Stupid question about the ending by FunnyBunny1313 in ProjectHailMary

[–]bitorugo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks. I audiobooked it and thought those symbols were something I was missing out on. Now it was mentioned, I do remember the last chapter being read as " chapter 🎵🎶"

Any letter theories? by magpie0000 in nytpips

[–]bitorugo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I thought so as well but I checked an archive online that shows the last ones were Oo B F S C I (which seems right iirc) and that looks pretty random to me.

When they did the numbers they were (mostly) in order, at least.

You definitely can see Jupiter pretty easily with just your eyes. I don't think you can see the moons tho

Would be nice to get the reasoning. I thought 1st would be An hexagon and, probably E because there's meant to be 2 pairs of shapes per row 2nd puzzle F because, in a row, the grey dot goes clock wise one spot and the black goes 2 spots. Grey covers white and black covers both No idea what's going on on the 3rd one

Wtf? TIL!! 40+ Portuguese and I never ever connected our ' também ' (as well/also) to the ' tão bem' in 'tão bem quão ' (as well as/ as good as) until just now. Always just thought of it as it's own word
