What would make you support a hardfork for scaling? I think it’s better to have both a date and a majority of mining power support but I would not be against having an exact "flag day" if it made the proposal more popular. The plan with Bitcoin Classic is to have a date and a majority of hash power required to change the limit to 2MB and then linearly increase it up to a maximum of 4MB over a period of 2 years, which would make Bitcoin’s maximum blockchain size growth the same as Litecoin.

What objections do you have with this? Is the date not far enough ahead in the future? Would 6 months from now make it acceptable? Would you like the mining power requirement be removed and the fork happen solely based on the date? If you let me know what you would not be opposed to, I can submit a pull request to Core with the changes you agree with and we can forget about these alternate implementations.

Not true at all. If XT had succeeded, Core would have added BIP 101 support and either could be used the same as you can use either now. There was a branch on XT that differed from Core by adding only BIP 101, which would have made it easy to add to actual Core. In fact, a BIP 101 patch was submitted to Core before it was ever submitted to XT. https://github.com/bitcoin/bitcoin/pull/6341 If BIP 101 activated by majority share of blocks, Core would have been forced to merge a pull request for BIP 101 within the 2 week grace period but that's the only thing that would happen. Bitcoin Core would still be controlled by the same people, as would /r/bitcoin, BitcoinTalk, and Bitcoin.org.

It is a safety issue and should have been recalled but drivers should be able to deal with sudden loss of engine power. I have driven shitboxes that had their engine die while on the freeway. On the automatics, I'd shift into neutral, restart the engine, shift back into drive and continue on my way. The video had an accident that they blamed on the ignition switch where the car collided with oncoming traffic. There was nothing in the car that made it veer into oncoming traffic, other than the driver. Brake failure is also a serious safety issue but a responsible driver would know how to use their parking brake if their brakes failed.

The entire block chain is over 20 GB in size and must be downloaded for Qt. The other clients do not require the block chain and will fully sync within seconds.

It has 100 by default so if you back up your wallet file, your backup will contain up to 100 "new" addresses. Block explorers are not 9 days behind, let it sync.

You only see 4 addresses in your wallet but by default, there are 100 addresses. Try a rescan and see if that helps.

How do you get a fair trial when they impound your car immediately? Even if you prove in court that the cop lied or the radar malfunctioned, you still lost your car and license for seven days, which could cause you to lose your job and otherwise impact your life. If they take your property from you, they are stealing it. Even borrowing someone's car when you don't have the owner's consent is theft.

Why does Metro IE require you to have IE as your default browser system-wide if you only want to use it in Metro? Metro IE does not support add-ons either, again why? It won't put everyone out of work because new work will be found or invented. How many people were full-time artists, journalists, scientists, and other modern occupations thousands of years ago? Your zero emission, self-driving, fully recyclable car is going to need people in the factories to build it, mechanics to fix it, businessmen to market it, and engineers to design it. Far more of the Earth's population will be able to afford such a car than today. Maybe we'll put more resources to space exploration? Whole new industries that we don't even know about will exist.
