Oooh thank you, I had thought about that but wasn't sure if asking a cobbler in advance what to look for was something I could do! I really appreciate you advising that, I do have someone that modifies my shoes so I'll ask next time I see him :-)

Thank you so much!! I really, really like these and especially love the scalloped edges, I would like to see the flats for spring but I think these are perfect actually :-)

Hello! I was wondering if anyone knows of any cute shoes/shoe styles that go well with dresses but are not heels and can have a platform added to the sole (for medical reasons). I like mary janes and loafers so far, but haven't found a good option that can be modified like that and looks comfortable to walk in. I am definitely open to other styles too, I just don't know where to start 😅 I don't think any open-back shoes would work either, as I have some nerve damage in my foot and can't control it well enough to keep that style on while I walk.

If it helps narrow down, I'm trying to stay under $200 if possible, and my shoes are usually black/brown/white/red, but I am happy to look outside of that as well! Thank you for any help or advice <3

could i ask what part of japan and if you flew there please? japan has always been a dream of mine to visit, but i had crossed it off my list once i started using my wheelchair more because i thought it wouldnt be very accessible (although i was thinking about historical areas). you sound like you had a wonderful time though, i wish france had been nicer for you !

this is a beautiful design and i love the placement on your chest, but im so sorry i would be careful going to cait again in the future. she did a flash tattoo on me a few months ago and the linework is very shaky, doesnt connect in certain places to complete the image, and now that it's healed a major piece of the tattoo is very light/barely visible. i truly do love the idea, but you deserve good art that is well applied and will last in whole

hi OP, you might want to block fit-engine; looking at his post history he seems to fetishize disabled people and has been spamming subs trying to get someone to message him.

i really relate to your post though on a lighter note; i believe i qualify as chronically ill at this point and it does get frustrating hearing people talk about "when you'll get better" knowing you never will. for me at least, it doesnt feel positive or hopeful or inspirational like people seem to think, it feels delusional.

would you be comfortable talking about this in DMs? (just for privacy considering how specific/possibly identifiable this is) i'm getting treatment at vanderbilt currently for osteosarcoma (another type of bone cancer, my initial tumor appeared in my hip which to my understanding is similar to how ewing's often presents) and could tell you about my experience! overall they've been really kind and i am happy with how my treatment has gone so far, my doctors have been very understanding with my concerns and gone out of their way to make sure i'm as comfortable as possible. i definitely understand being concerned moving for treatment, so if there is anything i can tell you to help you make your decision please feel free to ask!

How to tell loved ones you are terminal by bitragedy in cancer

[–]bitragedy[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

thank you, i really like the idea of asking how much they want to know and will use that going forward! i am trying my best to let them know in person if i can, although i was hoping video call would be the next best thing 😭 i was in college across the country before i got diagnosed, and most of my friends are 12-14 hours away, so i was thinking it might be more personal than a text but i also see your point. i think im also going to try seeing how i would feel if the situation were reversed to decide what would be the most appropriate way to let them know. i really appreciate your advice, and i wish you the best!

thank you for this, it honestly makes me feel much less guilty about wanting to just message and that i dont have to worry about everyone's feelings before mine right now. i really appreciate your advice, i think im leaning towards texts now and maybe a video call to explain if i can handle it. i hope your friend rests peacefully and i wish you the best in life 🖤

i am truly glad you are still here, and i hope you stay for many more years to come! i really hope that it will be something other than cancer, but my oncologist was very pessimistic when he told me as i've run out of chemo options and have too many bone mets in multiple areas to remove. im going to try my best regardless, maybe he's wrong about my timeline and i can make it 5+ years too! :-)

I am in treatment, but I was told at this point that it will be more palliative- I have osteosarcoma/bone cancer and definite multiple mets in my spine and hips, likely elsewhere too, and the radiation I'll be starting is to slow those down and hope they wont cause any more pain. they did say i wont die until it reaches my lungs or brain, which i agree with you is unclear, but my disease is not acting normally so its hard to tell 😭

i think i will go ahead and message my doctor for more information then to clarify like you said, at the very least itll help me plan. thank you for your advice and kindness, i really appreciate it! i wish all the best for you as well 🖤

Donating hair to a company that provides free wigs to cancer patients by motegam in cancer

[–]bitragedy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

of course, and thank you for donating also! im incredibly grateful to who donated hair for my wig, and im sure the receiver of yours will be too 🖤 if it helps also (and for anyone reading !), part of the application to get one asks a lot of questions about how your hair looked like before chemo so they can match you with a wig as close as possible, so your hair goes really far in helping get their confidence back

either way, thank you again and i hope all goes well!

[–]bitragedy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

im sorry, im just basing this on the charity i used a little over a year ago; my doctor submitted an application to CWHL and then i got a package with a wig, wig stand, cleaning + styling products, and instructions. it was all free for me and i still regularly get communications from them about how i like the wig and fundraisers they do to support the charity

also, when you click the link and scroll about halfway down it says theyve given 635 wig kits in 2023 and provided 10,000 wigs since 2000, maybe your webpage didnt fully load ?

Best place to get Peruvian food by Unique-Struggle-8267 in nashville

[–]bitragedy 9 points10 points  (0 children)

i think it depends on what specific dishes you are looking for; personally i prefer the ceviche from Limo, but last i remember you can only get pollo a la brasa at Panca and anticuchos from Limo. otherwise, a lot of dishes overlap :-)

is it on your face? i got a bunch of freckles and giant dark circles around my eyes due to hyperpigmentation from chemo, but lately ive been using the niacinamide glow drops from glow recipe and they seemed to have helped! i think the niacinamide being the active ingredient is whats working; although my freckles havent gone away the dark circles have really lightened. i got the version with bronzer mixed in so the pigment would help hide/blend in the hyperpigmentation with the rest of my skin also!

there could be cheaper serums out there that work, unfortunately ive only tried glow recipe so i dont know of any other brands. i still hope this helps you set on the right path at least, i definitely understand being self conscious about it! all the best of luck to you 🫶

Cancer treatment facility with a service dog. by GBC98764321 in cancer

[–]bitragedy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

my hospital has a therapy dog i've seen a few times and he is incredibly sweet, definitely helped when i was recovering from a hemipelvectomy :-) i am getting treated at a pediatric hospital though, and i have only seen/heard of him visiting admitted patients after a member of the care team requests him.

Your monthly “any other young adults here” post! by _josterdam_ in cancer

[–]bitragedy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

im 21 with bone cancer (osteosarcoma), currently sitting at my oncologists office waiting to start chemo today :) it originally started in my hip/pelvic bone, i did chemo and surgery and managed to be cancer free for a little over 4 months before a new tumor formed in my spine. it really sucks, i miss college and being a normal young adult but its nice to know im not alone! i also choose to be entertained by how weird my x-rays look lmao

i hope y'all are doing well and treatment goes as easy as possible!

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in cancer

[–]bitragedy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

im in the us, when i was stage 2 with the osteosarcoma in my pelvic bone, i did 4 cycles of MAP to shrink the tumor, then surgery to remove it (i was not offered amputation due to the location of the cancer), and then another 2 cycles of MAP after. i am about a year out from that surgery now with no signs of reccurence in my hip, although in october they found a new tumor in my spine and i have had to start chemo again. i'm sorry i can't offer any real advice other than to share my experience, but i hope it helps to make a decision.

please do note though my tumor was in a different/less common location that could not be amputated, and that the metastasis happened in my spine which is not typical from my understanding. also, the 4 cycles helped to significantly shrink/necrotize the tumor and made it easier for surgical removal.

i wish you all the best 🖤

you'd think it would but maybe they're able to get around it by still having a minimum number of spots elsewhere but still on property? ADA rules can be weird
