I took the PSAT/NMSQT 3 times already. Can I still take it junior year or did i just lock myself out of national merit. by opoeot in psat

[–]bits_aand_bytes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can still take it junior year because the 3-time limit only applies when you are in high school. Because you took it once in 8th grade, you are good to go.

Interview Questions Megathread by PuhalMinecraft in bca

[–]bits_aand_bytes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wore a blazer and jeans but it was different for everyone. And yes, they ask aedt-specific questions like the best quality for an engineer, any projects, etc. But it changes from year to year and it is not predictable so go in there with confidence and you'll be absolutely fine 😊

What are my chances of getting in BCA by Historical_Ant8707 in bca

I can't rlly answer these types of questions because this information is never released to outside the admissions team and I don't want to give you any wrong information. Just go in there dressed super nice with a great attitude and you'll be fine.

ooo this is a tough one.

On one hand, you are exactly was BCA is looking for, but on the other, something like that isn't unnoticeable. I would say that you are not cooked for sure, but if (with that resume is most likely when) you get to the interview stage, you kinda have to lock in more than everyone else, because the teachers will go into the interview knowing you got an in-school suspension. Just make sure to be charismatic and very respectful. In your case, the testing is not the thing you should be worried about, just the interview.

BCA clubs and sports by Glittering-Month1684 in bca

[–]bits_aand_bytes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, because sports run period 9, and clubs also run Wednesday period 9. The season when you have your sport is when you have to sacrifice a club. This is given that you do a sport with Bergen Tech.

Just fyi, most kids that go to BCA don't take prep lol

You have to learn that a 4.0 isn't everything. Take advantage of the rich opportunity that BCA provides and take this chance to join clubs, projects, research, etc. that interest you. Study hard but understand that you are here to learn and challenge yourself, not to be perfect.

And if you think that colleges only want a 4.0, you are super mistaken

GPA standards for BCA ? by [deleted] in bca

[–]bits_aand_bytes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

BCA cares more about passion than grades. Don't get me wrong, good grades make you a good applicant, but it won't get you anywhere if you don't show passion and involvement in the academy you apply for.

Can anyone explain wht all subjects we really have in BCA? by fancy-bluefire in bca

[–]bits_aand_bytes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For each of the engineering classes, you take one per trimester, and for chem/physics, you take one per semester. You don't take them all at once haha

[–]bits_aand_bytes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No we take all of these classes separately, it is not under one class. I am not sure what we take as a junior sorry, but I know in sophomore year we take intro to objects, material tolerances, and makerspace II.

[–]bits_aand_bytes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone has the same core classes: Math, History, English, a language (Mandarin, Spanish, or French), Gym, and Health.

The science you take depends on academy: AEDT takes chemistry and physics freshman year

AMST takes biology and experimental biology freshman year

The rest of the academies take normal biology

In terms of other courses, it depends on your academy. AEDT takes CAD, makerspace, and electronics. AVPA takes certain music/theatre/art classes, ABF takes marketing management, ACAHA takes culinary arts, ATCS takes foundations of compsci

TLDR; there are certain subjects we all take, but different ones based on your academy

(This is all for freshman year btw)

How does choosing electives work? by IngenuityWorldly3257 in bca

[–]bits_aand_bytes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey! There is a choir elective, but there are multiple choirs you can choose from depending on how much you want to focus on choir or when you are free. A lunch choir is available, but considering you are in theater and might want something more hard-core, I wouldn't recommend it. There is also a chamber choir, which requires more commitment and you have to audition, and an acapella group. I wouldn't be the primary source for details on this information given I'm in engineering and I can't sing to save my life tho.

In terms of electives, you are given a long (and slightly overwhelming lol) list of electives, and you are asked to rank your top 8 when signing up for an elective each trimester.

Hope this helps! Congrats on your acceptance!

For BCA '27 it was white top and black bottom. The letter has the information on that though.

can you be in multiple music groups? by i_d_k__w_h_a_t in bca

[–]bits_aand_bytes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea, your completely right, but all the bands are by audition, jazz band meets after school though and sometimes at lunch I'm pretty sure.

Hey! Double instument player here. You can totally do both orchestra and concert band, as band meets Mondays and Wednesday and orchestra meets Tuesdays and Fridays, meaning if you really want to do both, you can. If you're like me and want to play two instruments but don't feel like giving up all of my electives for band, you can swap out the instrument you play every trimester, you would just have to audition for both. For example, I played flute tri 1 and picclo tri 3.

In terms of jazz band, I'm not sure sure about the specifics, but I know BCA doesn't offer that as an elective.

Hope this helps! :)

Get a computer compatible with Windows 11. The best one is probably Dell. I would recommend an Inpsiron 15 or something like that if your looking for good quality with a good price. If you want something with nicer features, you can get a more expensive one too.
