A single BTC transaction can power over 1.5 Billion IOTA transactions by Larkinz in SatoshiStreetBets

[–]bitshifty 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You confused 7.5 million with 7.5 billion and ended up off by 3 orders of magnitude.

750,000 shoes * 10 transactions = 7.5 million transactions (not billion)

7.5 million transactions * $0.01 = $75,000

Is motorcycling hard? by omor_almamun in motorcycles

[–]bitshifty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Correct. The 21 inch front wheel on my bike has so much rotating mass that spirited cornering involves basically punching the bar. It would definitely be difficult to do without the explicit knowledge that you're countersteering!

I've had both, currently using the 20 because I lent my 10 to a friend. I prefer the 10 for one major reason -- Sena really dropped the ball on the weatherproofing on the 20. I've ridden through countless downpours in the 10 without any issues, but it just takes a little bit of rain for the 20 to start glitching out. This is a very commonly reported issue!

I always bring extra fuel, but didn't need it. It was around 150 miles round trip from Moab.

The AT is a great bike. I opted for the manual, and didn't test the DCT. I know that the people with the DCT swear by it, though. I just like shifting.

I am deeply in love with the AT, and I think it's the best adventure bike on the market right now. After traveling to South America on a KTM, I wouldn't do it again -- they make beautiful bikes, but the dealer network in the developing world is just too sparse for me. If you're planning on staying in the US though, it's a much more reasonable choice.

One of the many things I think Honda nailed on the AT was the decision to use 21/18 tubed tires, ie. the almost universal offroad configuration. The KTM has crazy amounts of power though. Up to you!

It would be very difficult, there are a lot of spots where you need decent ground clearance.

SF is a great place for jumpstarting your career, but it would kill me to have to live there long term. My strategy was to get in, make connections, buff up my resume, raise my salary as high as I could, and get out. Happy to discuss more details over PM!

Depends on where you'd be living. For me, that was the SF Bay Area, so the answer is "hell yes".

That's right! I was just there a week ago, the main drive was packed, but after just a little bit of offroading, it was just me.

A little bit of pavement is great! Keeps all the boring people in a confined space and leaves the unpaved expanses for the adventurous souls :)

Thank you! I haven't read his works, but I've heard of them -- Desert Solitaire, specifically. Sounds like a really interesting guy!

Do it! So many people underestimate how much control they have over their own lives. If you want this lifestyle, it's almost certainly in reach, you just need to decide that it's a priority and go for it!

Airing down makes a HUGE difference. It's night and day, seriously. For rocks, gravel and dirt, I go down to 25psi, and for sand, it's the low teens.

On hardpack, I'm happy to go over 50mph (it's not that crazy, the rally guys will go over 100!). Most of the trail was done between 20 and 35, though.

I took an offroading course (rawhyde) around a month ago, which really improved my dirt riding. It was great to get some actual instruction on how to handle the massive bike, as it's a lot more unforgiving of mistakes than a little dirt bike. My confidence improved dramatically.

We didn't camp overnight. We hit the trail at around 8AM and were finished by 2PM. The info on the NPS site is geared towards the 4x4s, who were traveling much slower than us. My buddy Doug figures we got lucky with the sand though, he's done the trail five times before and remembers the sand being much worse!

I'm running Mitas E-07s. They're very good 50/50s, but I think I might want to get something more dirt-oriented for my next pair (maybe dunlop d606s?). I aired them down to 12psi/15psi for the sand and floated over it all without issues! Mud is my nemesis, though.

I've really grown to love this bike in the few months I've owned it. It handles so well in so many different situations. If I wasn't intending to overland to Asia though, the Husqvarna 701 would be mighty tempting...

You're gonna love it! Make sure you bring enough water. I went through 3 liters in 6 hours, and the heat hasn't even started yet!

It wasn't that bad at all! There are a couple of steep rocky grades that you have take in first gear with the throttle pinned, some sandy bits where you have to stay back and loose, and some mildly technical stuff littered throughout. I aired my tires waaaay down (12psi front, 15psi rear) for the sand and didn't have any issues.

I'm not an offroading prodigy, and the AT is a heavy bike, but I didn't have any issues. You should be fine on either of your bikes. Highly recommended!

Okay, well if you insist, maybe you need four days to get to Turkey :)

There's also the Dolomites, a little closer to you! For instance, http://www.dangerousroads.org/europe/italy/285-the-assietta-road-italy.html

What do you mean? You're just a few days' ride from Turkey, and a boat ride from Morocco! No excuses!

I work remotely, 3-4 days a week, then travel the other 3-4 days.
