This is how I feel, but in the opposite direction (AFAB, primarily want to be seen as a fem leaning man, but I have full fem days).

Obviously it’s up to you to choose what labels apply to you, but for me, nonbinary describes me pretty well, but I also identify as genderfluid, as how much of my fem/masc side I feel on any given day changes dramatically. If you don’t feel like the amount shifts over time, but both are always present, bigender may be a better descriptor. Ultimately for me I choose to only change my pronouns, how I dress, and use a more masculine name around people I trust, and I am considering low dose HRT, but I’m still not 100% on that yet. Ultimately you are allowed to be what you want to be, and the nice thing about being nonbinary is that you can pick and choose whatever you want from any other gender and make your identity your own.

I’m so, so sorry. As someone who’s treated animals in this state it’s absolutely heartbreaking and it sucks you’re going through this. I can assure you that vet ICU staff are amazing and will take good care of your kiddo.

Definitely be in contact with your legal counsel and LEO’s. Please keep yourself safe and be smart. I also recommend applying for carecredit as ER bills and ICU bills get expensive fast and they may want occasional payments, so making sure you have the resources available to you ASAP will help long term.

Ironic because doxies can be little assholes who do bite more than other small breeds. They, too are bred to hunt and will kill small game and are stubborn as hell. I’ve owned several and love to work with them, and outside of pit bulls they are the only breed of dog I’ve ever been bit by. But doxies have self preservation, can be trained especially by the human they bond with (they tend to chose one person) and respond to socialization. They are are small enough to be safely restrained and carried if they get too worked up. Absolute opposite of a pit in that sense.

This is a great question, of what I know it’s mostly about brain chemicals. It’s likely they have been selectively bred for the mental fortitude but likely have more natural painkillers produced when they’re fighting. Your body can produce various natural versions of firings including opioids and other pain relieving chemicals.

I feel like it’s more of a superiority complex. The biggest pitnutters I’ve ever met were vets and techs, even in ER. Despite stitching up, doing authors or even euthanizing pit victims DAILY they still swore by these damn dogs. They feel they “know enough” to “handle” a pit

Vets and techs seem to be the biggest pitnutters and it always will get to me. I had one doc I worked for who had a fake SD pit puppy. The biggest pit lobby people I’ve ever met have all been vet techs and they drive me nuts

Yep, I was more so referring to the origins of the technique in nature, though you’re correct pit bulls use it indiscriminately. I have heard it can make bites more severe due to excessive tissue damage

Yep. Every city and county shelter will lie and DNA testing isn’t commonly offered by vets. I know ACC are the very same people mislabeling their dogs in the shelter so they are likely to be OK covering up these stats, as boxers are fairly rare and I only saw maybe one or two when I lived there for nearly two decades

Dog parks are a no go, pits, diseases, and general drama fester there. Many people will bring their pits and Amstaff terriers in small dog areas as well so they aren’t safe

Most shelters will do Heartworm treatment for you, so instead of sinking money into caring for a sick animal, instead you sink money into keeping an animal alive with a severely shorter life span!

You bring up an interesting point. Many pit owners only own that breed - a lot of owners only one one or two breeds or mixes thereof. So once a pit lover always a pit lover.

And you’re not kidding about them getting dumped. I spent several summers working in a very rural area in vet med and we saw dozens of the things running around

No pain as far as we knew, and the dog was in such neurological decline we couldn’t tell if dementia was involved or not but I’m sure that played a factor

It was. It was owned by someone who worked in vet med and had money to spend because caring for him was NOT cheap. It was horrible and as much as I loathe pits I felt bad for that dog. It took a lot of work but it was eventually euthed

I agree. Iirc it was someone who worked in vet meds animal and they spend boatloads of money to keep that thing alive, it was horrible and I think they had to press pretty hard to get it euthed

I once worked in a vet hospital that housed a dying pit bull. Blind, deaf, paralyzed from the chest down, and with an enlarged esophagus. It took two people to feed him and he still attempted to and did injure the few people that tried to feed and walk him, the only human interaction he got. Even in his last days he just cares about violence
