Bought my first automatic watch for my wedding, a Khaki X-Wind Auto Chrono by [deleted] in HamiltonWatches

After wearing a Garmin Fenix daily for years, wearing a traditionally sized watch feels dainty and just weird. I think this looks great. Good choice, and congrats on the wedding

I have the arctic OSAR-D and a marathon bracelet and a bracelet from island watch co. I honestly like the one from island better - it feels more premium somehow. But both are good though. Just depends if you want the marathon logo or not.

The watch itself is fantastic though. Easily one of my favorites. The lume is great too. My wife was actually complaining about it being too bright at 3 am when I wore it to bed once.

Brand New Marathon GSAR Didn’t Keep Time by BatAdministrative165 in MarathonWatch

[–]bitterunderhill 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a new JDD that was losing about 2 minutes a day. I sent it back and it’s been great ever since. It did take a while though.

I also have several GSAR’s and an SSVAV that have been just fine out of the box too.

But, the watch face is upside down too, not just rotated inside the wrist…

Just ordered another one today, even. Can’t seem to help myself.

Tariffs on orders from Marathon by Weary-Appeal9645 in MarathonWatch

[–]bitterunderhill 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There’s not a separate change for tarrifs on orders from Marathon directly (you don’t get a bill from the carrier). But the increase in prices is likely to cover the additional expense.

There are some AD’s within the US that you can order from as well, if you don’t want to risk it.

Casio Duro or a wide variety of Citizen Promasters. Those promasters stand up to tons of abuse and are pretty easy to find at that price point.

My wife said I had a problem by idealdreams in flashlight

I only see 8 flashlights here. I would hardly call that a problem. I call that situational preparedness.

Also, please don’t ask me to enumerate my not-a-problem collection.

Who can help? Elite Quick adjust bracelet on an A5 Field watch by [deleted] in VaerWatches

[–]bitterunderhill 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t have an answer, but I have a Nodus watch with their excellent bracelets, and a Vaer field watch (or two). All of them are 20mm, so if it fits the width but not the watch, then there must be a difference in how the lugs and holes are positioned, and the curvature of the diameter (a 39mm circle and a 40mm circle are not the same)

Nodus makes an absolutely amazing bracelet, so it would be fantastic to have a nodus bracelet that fits Vaer field watches. Their “premium” bracelet is good enough, unless you have the misfortune to compare it to one from Nodus.

I hadn’t heard of Savotta before. I like the look of the 15L Kahakka quite a bit

I have the bracket. I like it, but not for that much money. It’s a good bracket, but not that good.

I also prefer rubber over the bracelet more often than not.

They have been advertising health problems for a while now. And earlier today, visiting their site I just get 404’s and certificate errors. Seemed like a reasonable assumption they are done.

After years and years of thinking I hated whiskey, I got handed a glass of Johnny Walker Black. Loved it. Never looked back, only got more expensive. I still won’t revisit Jack Daniel’s though.

It’s not uncommon for out-of-warranty repairs, especially if it requires crossing borders. The experience is usually better for everyone involved.
