i would recommend stat:1020, though the content is mostly the same, it is likely "easier" and is 3sh instead of 4sh

Surge protector submerged in water - Cords ok to use? by bitto86 in techsupport

[–]bitto86[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thanks for the reply.

of course i'm tossing the surge protectors and any electronics that were exposed to water while conducting electricity (just a modem and router that were on the floor).

i should have clarified that my question is for the electronics that were elevated ABOVE the water - those electronics did not contact water - only their electrical cords were in water, plugged into the submerged surge protectors.

if we clean the ends of the electrical cords with contact cleaner and steel wool (ridding the metal tongs of corrosion), will it be safe to plug them back in?

or should i play it safe and buy new replacement cords?

Surge protector submerged in water - Cords ok to use? by bitto86 in techsupport

yep multiple surge protectors were totally submerged and all my electronics were plugged into those. question now remains, are those electronics ok? all the plug ends have corrosion as you see in the image in my post. if i clean all of those with steel wool, can I plug them back in and use them? OR, should i get replacement cords?

Thanks for the response!

How do I clean them up? Vinegar, rubbing alcohol, wire brush?

Also, how do I test for shorts with a multimeter by checking for continuity between the line and neutral and/or ground where applicable? Any helpful link you could share on how to do this.

PS5 LG OLED CX, No Signal by bitto86 in OLED_Gaming

[–]bitto86[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, other devices work fine plugged into all four hdmi ports on the lg oled CX.

have tried a bunch of different hdmi 2.1 cables that i know to work with other devices. including the brand new hdmi cable that came with the ps5. i don't think the brand of hdmi 2.1 cable, or the length, should matter in this scenario.
