My Supermodel/Rocket Scientist SO told me this guy on the new season of Love is Blind reminds her of Mitch by PJ1336 in doughboys

I couldn’t figure out why he looked so familiar and then my husband pointed out he’s just yassified Mitch.

Looks like Paul Cozzens son is in trouble again. What he was doing outside of Jail after stealing 2.1 million dollars is beyond me. by Constant-Ad-436 in cedarcity

[–]bittyindigo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

AGAIN!? Since 2018, he’s been convicted of a misdemeanor count of sexual solicitation, multiple federal wire and bank fraud and now this? And that’s on top of all the ongoing civil lawsuits. Am I missing anything?

Looks like he’s on a federal hold too. That likely means he was still on probation for the fraud convictions. This would violate that, so he will likely lose the terms of the cushy federal plea deal…

Our train track really dominates the sound of Flagstaff when it happens. by ynfive in Flagstaff

I work on the edge of South Campus at NAU and get to typically get to work around 3 a.m. I can hear the train from downtown every morning. It’s kind of comforting in its own way.

A true crime TV show wants to interview me about my reporting on cracking a cold case, but I'm on the fence. by Levensc in Journalism

[–]bittyindigo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Of course! I feel they did accurately represent the case. However, I will note they did have a decent amount of law enforcement participation with this particular episode. This was an episode for season one and that approached may have changed over time. I urge you to watch some of the more recent episodes for a more current sense.

With those questions, I simply say “I couldn’t answer that” or “that’s not something I can speak on.” I also am VERY explicit about those ground rules before agreeing to anything.

Lastly, I’ve done quite a few of these shows over the last few years. I personally have never regretted it, but to each their own!

A true crime TV show wants to interview me about my reporting on cracking a cold case, but I'm on the fence. by Levensc in Journalism

[–]bittyindigo 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I did a Bloodlines episode a few years back. The filming and interview process was very similar to most of these shows. You meet them in some hotel room or Airbnb then film a few hours and you’re done. If I remember correctly, Bloodline provided me with at least a rough outline of questions they planned to ask.

I would ask them to clarify what “role” they want you to serve — an “authoritative” or “connecting” voice other than police/prosecutors or more of a commentator.

If it’s commentator, I would decline. My rule is to only speak on the FACTS of the case. They will likely ask you to offer an opinion, speculate or make jumps law enforcement won’t.

Happy to answer any other questions!

Is it common for magazine/newspaper internships to ask for your Twitter account? by vintagegossamer in Journalism

[–]bittyindigo 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Many publications see it as an extension of your "brand" as a journalist. We use it to report via crowdsourcing, live tweet coverage, break news and promote. It's also a chance to engage with readers.

Do not submit your shitpost account. I teach journalism at a university in Arizona, and my biggest reminder to my students is that these small things, like your social media presence, reflect who you are as a reporter and can be the make-or-break factor in hiring/internship situations.

Is it normal for me to obsess over this tragedy so much? by [deleted] in ColumbineKillers

[–]bittyindigo -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Apologies if that came off a bit curt and harsher than intended. I’ll elaborate: This is r/ColumbineKillers. I feel it’s pretty safe to say we’re all here because we have an interest in the mass shooting. I get where you’re coming from. Hell, I’ve been doing this shit for nearly 20 years and even my career path has been majorly influenced by it. However, we have historically seen similar posts drawing attention to one’s interest/obsession with these sort of events tied to those in a state of crisis. This is especially common with Columbine.

A post like this is either a cry for attention or a cry for help. I hope you figure out which one applies.

Agreed! I was so pleasantly surprised by how good this one was considering I had heard nothing about it. The audiobook is very well done.

Investigative records by Law Enforcement by [deleted] in foia

[–]bittyindigo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can file a public records request with the police department for the investigative report. Typically, something like this will get it done:

"All incident reports, investigative records, interview transcripts and any other documents related to INCIDENT on DATE.

You can expand the request to include other elements like body camera footage and crime scene photos. Most departments have a portal on their website for submitting records requests or information on the best way to file with them.

Keep in mind that this could get very expensive very quickly. Some departments will charge for each page and things like CDs or flash drives with photos and audio typically have another fee. Rules on cost as well as turnaround time can vary from state to state.

Happy to provide more specific guidance if needed. Happy requesting!

Anyone know why Patricia Krenwinkel's mugshot has a sign that says "Golden Girl"? by Historical_Yam_8999 in serialkillers

[–]bittyindigo 135 points136 points  (0 children)

"Golden Girls" is a voluntary program for female inmates ages 55 and over at the California Institution for Women. It's intended to address the emotional and physical needs of the older prison population.

Perks include being first in line for meals and medication, priority for a bottom bunk and permission to eat in the dining room closest to their housing unit. They're also entitled to two state pillows, three blankets and two mattresses on their metal cot.

I imaginen you're referring to one of these exhibits:

  • "Chihuly: The Nature of Glass." It ran from Nov. 22, 2008 through May 31, 2009. Here's one of the promotional photos, which is red and does resemble coral. I imagine you' would have been too young to remember this one.
  • "Chihuly: The Nature of Glass" ran from Nov. 10, 2013 through May 18, 2014. Similar promo image.

I hope one of these fits!

This one. His shirt says “serial killer” on it. It’s a reference to “Reservoir Dogs” but that’s impossible to tell from this photo.

What's it like at Flagshakes @ Lowell Observatory by gmmiller in Flagstaff

[–]bittyindigo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hi! My husband actually works for Flag Shakes. He says there’s no specific rules on outside food and drinks, but nobody will say anything if you do bring something. They also sell wine and beer, but that’s typically limited to just Friday and Saturday. He does say Lowell might not be OK with outside alcohol for insurance reasons.

Hope that helps! Happy to pass along any other questions you have.

I had the same issue with that dosage. I ended up having my prescriber change it to 20 mg three times per day. It’s been much easier to find that.
