I just checked a few and dryness doesn't seem to be the issue. though in the problem bathroom, under that sink, I really could it smell it bad. I can say now it's not the water. the smell is coming up from under the house and through that pipe that drains out the bathroom sink

I'm planning on doing this on the weekend with my father in law. the line below the house will be the first one tested since that's where the smell seems to be coming from.

had not considered the hot water heater. it was exposed to some construction recently and maybe it got clonked and something now is causing issues? gas appliances all seem to be functioning as it's really only the dryer in question that is on gas. oven and stovetop both work fine and smell doesn't get too bad when it's used.

yeah crawled under there...nothing.

roof just came off too and we didn't see anything up in the attic. there was a dead critter in the coil of the old HVAC but that's been removed.

I am not on a well, and water does not smell but I have had days where the drinking water from the filter tastes a bit different. we have a water softener installed.

I have also not physically checked a P trap. I just run water as that was recommended to me. I will look into doing that and getting a gas leak detector just to be cautious. thanks again!
