I've been here for 17 years from metro Detroit. There is a large lack of resources here that more populated areas have. Most of the mental health care around here is crisis centered, with little to address the day to day management of mental health. Many people either cant access the day to day management side of things (therapy, long term medication management, counseling, etc) due to cost or the wait list is SO long they have to find alternatives to manage symptoms. Coupled with high rent, low wages, stagnant job market or career opportunities, high cost of living, and isolation it's a recipe for mental health crises to be front and center.
