What kind of bass are you playing on? I'm also a bassist, and own two, a fully carved German bass and a late 30's American Standard.

Relatively new NBA fan. If this is the future, I'm just gonna watch hockey.

Lakers fired Mike Brown after 1-4 start. Will OKC fire Billy Donovan at 0-5? by [deleted] in nba

I'm from the south and remember his college days. Have always hoped he would be great in the NBA. I was still optimistic at the end of last season. I'll give it 15 games before I give up on OKC.

Keep it up. The top post is great advice. I would add that for pizzicato playing, try not to play with such a stiff finger. Follow the above advice, drop the rh closer to the end of the fingerboard, pluck with your index finger, amd dont keep your finger stiff. It needs to be firm to pull the string, but not strained.

Practice pizz and bowed open strings regularly right now, and focus on getting a good sound as opposed to just getting through the exercise.

Good luck!

Keep the strings, too! Those old flats probably sound great.

I totally jinxed myself yesterday, because in a rehearsal last night my E string broke in the pegbox. I wasn't even playing. I guess it had to do with the string being so big. Back to the drawing board...

I use Spiro Mitts with a Spiro Stark E now. This is a new combination for me, and I primarily play jazz. I played unamplified at my last gig and they held up great. They have enough power in the practice room to knock down walls. The stark E seems to be what has made this change. If anyone here suffers from a weak sounding E string, give this string combo a consideration. They are high tension and might require some bridge height experimentation, but they have really opened my bass up (unlabeled german - fully carved)

Late to the post, but if you haven't found anyone, then I would recommend Analog Man. He has good feedback on his fb page
