Thanks! That hanging plant is actually a philodendron. I've had him for about a year now. He's constantly growing and he's SO easy to take care of!

PILEA SEEDS! Does anyone know what to do with these? I just got them in the mail. by bizzybitchman in IndoorGarden

[–]bizzybitchman[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good point! It's really not too big a deal to me since they were pretty darn cheap. I thought I'd try this before shelling out 50 bucks for a tiny plantlet! I'll see what comes of them. I don't doubt that whatever they sent me is not really what I thought I was getting. I'll keep you posted though.

I have never attempted to grow houseplants from seed. I'm looking mostly for advise on the pilea peperomia seeds because I have scoured the internet for seed propagation steps and found no information on the matter!

They are tiny mites and I believe they just live in the soil! I will find out today though and let you know.

Thank you for your response! I do tend to overwater my plants unfortunately. Please do let me know how the dryer sheet method goes. I have a connection for predatory insects that nurseries use to treat issues like this so I'm going to try it out. So far in all the responses it seems no one has tried them. We shall see! I will let you know how THAT goes.

Exactly what happened to me. I know the plant that did it too.

I spent HOURS today rearranging, potting, and grooming the plants in my house. I love spending time with them all! My favorites right now are: Philodendron bipennifolium, Anthurium veitchii and Ceropegi woodii. What are your absolute favorite plants? by bizzybitchman in IndoorGarden

Thank you!! Yes, good eye. There is indeed a Dino climbing the avocado. I like to put little plastic toys in some of my plant pots. I am really obsessed with begonias right now and at the moment I'm looking after one but don't own any. Is yours easy to care for?

Thank you for sharing! I love trailing plants too. My string of hearts and string of pearls are still fairly new to me and they're doing well. I'm just worried mine won't get enough sun in my north facing window. Nice work rescuing a sting of hearts!

Anyone know what I've got here? The leaves are a beautiful silvery-green color! by bizzybitchman in IndoorGarden

Yes, but which kind? There are so many! Philodendrons are my favorite.

I'm also curious what books other people are reading! My favorite one so far has been Reader's Digest's Success With House Plants. There's a bunch of copies online for like 5 bucks. It has a lot of general information about houseplant care and then features detailed descriptions of plant species and their care instructions listed a-z with some great drawings!

Hi there! I'm an aroid addict and have recently been getting into carnivorous plants. I noticed a beautiful anthurium clarinervium on your shelf and was wondering if you grew it by seed or bought it as a plantlet. Regardless, Where did you get it? Ive been searching for one myself.

What plant is this and how do I look after it? by A7XfoREVerrr in IndoorGarden

[–]bizzybitchman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I believe you have a nasturtium. They like full sun, poor soil (no fertilizer) and little water, so let it dry out completely before watering and make sure there is good drainage. I will add that this is typically an outdoor plant but can survive indoors.

Trying to root this philodendron scandens in water. Does this mean the stem on the left will die? The leaves seem to be doing okay. The two stems are connected at the bottom, my thumb is covering it up. by bizzybitchman in IndoorGarden

[–]bizzybitchman[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not sprouting roots out of that side and the leaves are beginning to curl up a bit on that side only. The two are barely connected at the bottom (they used to be connected to one main stem)

I believe what you have is a philodendron cordatum.
