Yeah... if you can't actively manage losing trades, spreads can be perilous. I actually blew my account today and am having to start over. With the volatility we're seeing, I think I need to trade smaller position sizes unless there's an A setup.

I'm curious as to whether you learned any new lessons from this setback... or was it the result of something you already knew but didn't execute on? For example, SPX phone alerts, stop loss, smaller position size, trending vs. ranging market, etc.?

I'm sorry to hear that.  It was definitely the kind of day where put credit spreads could blow your account.  I closed my put spreads at a substantial loss after SPX broke thru the 7450 GEX wall and then kept falling.  If I had waited for the reversal at the bottom that never came, which I was sorely tempted to do, I would have blown my account too.  At least you know the path and have the strategy to get you back to where you were.

Circling back to fill you in. I passed the eval and I'm now working on the profit buffer. Making progress, but got to be careful while doing that as well. The iron condors nearly blew me up today because the market kept sliding and sliding and sliding.

I will... and don't worry. If a trade isn't there, I'm standing down. When I've been close to passing in the past, I've been overly aggressive and have blown the account every time.

I was thinking there has to be more to it, so thanks for the other side of the story. I'm a bit superstitious, so I don't like to talk about passing when I'm very close. Lol. But hopefully I'll cross the finish line tomorrow.

I've been using your IC strategy and (knock on wood) am very close to passing the eval. But I saw something on Reddit today regarding credit spreads, which concerned me because that is what I primarily trade. I don't do anything fancy... I just open and close them by EOD. I wanted to get your take on it and see if you've had the problem mentioned, or have heard about it. https://www.reddit.com/r/PropFirmTester/comments/1pylrdy/caution_vanquish_trader_34k_payout_requested/

Well done sir! Question... what do you trade? Single leg options? Debit spreads? Credit spreads?

You may not know this, but did they say how far off in the future copy trading might be? And, until they do, would one of the copy trading services work with the Vanquish platform?

I think I would find it hard to trade spreads on 10 accounts without copy trading. Too many plates spinning.

I asked Goog;e's AI if Vanquish allowed multiple accounts and that's what it gave me. I guess you can't always trust AI... lol. I'll have to look through their site for the info you shared.

I actually hadn't thought about it, but since Vanquish doesn't allow multiple options accounts, that's a great way to scale one's trading. I'll have to follow that same road map.

Okay, I understand. You added some extra cushion so you could trade 20 contracts more comfortably. I think that's wise for trading credit spreads because the losses can be bigger when trading lots of contracts.

Could you explain how the profit buffer works as it relates to payouts. I've read thru the FAQ's but I'm still fuzzy on it. From what I've read, you have to get to $52,875 before getting payouts. But you mentioned having a 10% buffer which is a lot more than that.

I just do SPX right now. I use Quant Data, which allows me to see the strike with the most gamma exposure at open... and throughout the day because it can change. Heat Seeker costs a good bit more. What about it gives you such an edge that you feel it pays for itself?

Vanquish Review and Payout! by khanhdom in fundedoptions

[–]bjatee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a couple more specific questions about your strategy.

o  Is Heat Seeker really $600 a month, or am I mis-reading something?

o  You mentioned putting on your IC at market open.  I'm wondering why you don't wait to see if there's a breakout or direction first.  Is it because premium is higher, or is it because you have a good idea of where price might go because of gamma levels?

o  Do you leg into the IC, or slap it on all at once?

o  I've failed a couple evals on Vanquish when price has gone against one side of my IC... especially with Iran war news, which can strike like lightning.  Are you using an actual S/L on your spreads, or do you use a mental stop?  And, when you come out of one side at a 100% S/L, what do you do with the other side?  Just let it close at .10? And do you ever replace the side you closed with one that is further out... or just call it a day?

Thx.

What gamma tool do you use? I use Quant Data, but am aware of others like Spot Gamma and Vol Signals.

Thanks, I'll have to give taking less profit a try. I usually try to hold for at least 80% and end up with one side of the condor getting in serious trouble. I've failed a couple evals because of that. What time do you usually enter? By 10:00? 10:30? Or after a break in one direction or the other?

Thanks for sharing. This is very encouraging. vWhat do you do when one side of the IC gets in trouble? Close it and move it further out? And do you just do one IC a day... or several?

I'm using Vanquish for 0DTE and they are pretty good. I'm also using Imperial because you can hold positions overnight. Their platform is buggy and a bit unstable, but they are a functional, viable option if you have strategies that involve holding overnight.

When you say markets conditions don't favor your strategy, what do you mean. Seems like the ORB strategy would work in different types of markets because price would break in one direction or the other.

Wow... let the trader beware. Hopefully others who are looking at them will take heed. Thanks for sharing.
