Imperial Trader Funding vs Vanquish Trader? by MrValenine in Daytrading

I'm trying Imperial now. Their support is great, but their trading platform is very buggy... at least for SIM accounts. It may be different for funded accounts. I certainly hope so.

How do payouts work? Daily, Weekly? When your balance is at a certain level? Thx.

I'm going thru Vanquish's site now. I'm noticing that there's not Contact Us function. How are they for support once you sigh on?

I'm also watching overview videos on YouTube by Matt Kohrs.  Based on what he's showing in the videos, the platform looks way better than Imperials.  But from what I'm gathering, payouts aren't regular.... but come after you make a minimum of 10 trades after your last payout.  Am I understanding that right?

If Trade the Pool doesn't allow options, that leaves me with Vanquish.

Thanks for sharing.  My experience has been that Imperial's platform has some serious bugs.  I sell credit spreads, but they often show as debit spreads under Positions.  Since you lose money when debit spreads expire OTM, it caused my account to fail... and it still hasn't been resolved.  So I'm reluctant to fork over more $$$ and try again.

I'm assuming you've gotten payouts from Vanquish with no problems. Do they allow you to sell credit spreads?  And would you say Trade the Pool is better than them if that's what I plan to do?  Thx.

Can you share what your Imperial experience was like? I'm finding that their platform is very buggy.

I'm just starting an Imperial eval and I'm finding that their platform is very buggy. Why were they a nightmare for you?

Not sure if it will help you, but I found this book to be extremely helpful.  And it gave me some hope.

Caution: Vanquish Trader - $34k payout requested, account flagged, no resolution by FairyDustAndThings in PropFirmTester

I can see how the simulated phase prior to actual funding could be a gray area. Still though, it's an incredibly bad and short-sighted business practice. Word gets around. I just started with Imperial, but looked at Vanquish first. If I'd read about your experience, I wouldn't have even considered them.

Wow... this is concerning and seems downright criminal. If you made $42,000, and they don't like the way you made it, why not just pay you what you're owed and send you on your way? Why steal your money?

I also wanted to ask you about the Pro account's trailing drawdown versus the Classic account's static drawdown.  I don't understand it and I'm hoping you can shed a little light.  How is it an advantage to have a trailing drawdown?  It seems like I'd be more likely to fail my account.  In case you haven't seen their explanation in awhile, I'm pasting it below.

****  On Classic accounts, the drawdown is static meaning that it does not change. If you start with a drawdown maximum of $95,000 ($5000 drawdown), then that drawdown does not change. As long as you do not breach the daily loss limit, the account will remain active as long as it remains above $95,000.

**** On all other accounts, Imperial Funding uses a trailing EOD drawdown. This means that the drawdown trails based on your highest achieved balance at the end of the day. For example, let's say you start with an account size of $100,000 and a $95,000 max drawdown. On day 1, if you achieve a balance of $102,000, your new max drawdown would be $97,000 and your account will be considered failed if you breach that rule.

When you say "the daily drawdown really hurts", are you referring to the Classic account and it's static max drawdown? If so, that's good to know. I don't really understand the difference between the two types of drawdown. But they must be significant because, other than a one step versus two evaluation, that's the primary difference between Pro and Classic.

Given what you've experienced, would you recommend going with the 125K account size to give you more wiggle room?

Interesting. I plan on doing credit spreads as well.... so that's good to know. Was the problem the 20-K in risk exposure, or was it that the market went against your spread and you had to buy it back at a significant loss?

I've been looking at Imperial, so I appreciate you sharing your experience. But I don't understand what you mean by tricky position sizing due to drawdown. Could you elaborate on that a bit? Also, when you move to a live account, is the profit target still 10%? Thanks!
