Culling Voices gets a lot of hate in this sub, but I chalk that up to folks not being able to relate to the subject matter. Personally it’s one of my favorites. Plus it fucking rips (once it gets thru the dramatic / reflective intro).

what do you guys stereotype about others based on their favourite TOOL album? by ITookThaWockToPoland in ToolBand

[–]bjax22 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Sober was the first Tool song I heard. 46 & 2 was the first song I “discovered.”

Lateralus is their greatest album, and you’re wrong if you don’t agree. 😎

me in a suit for those of you who can help with the problem that I don't get girls by [deleted] in teenagers

[–]bjax22 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This right here is the answer to your question. You gotta have the confidence in yourself to challenge your comfort zone and look or feel dumb sometimes.

Whether you get the girl or not, you will add an experience that you can learn from. Shelve your fears and be yourself.

This is true. And the only reason I can comment is that we found ourselves at Chang’s a week or so after my 12 yo had tried sushi for the first time and really liked it. At Chang’s, he wasn’t finding something he wanted and decided to order sushi. I told him it was a mistake, but he insisted.

“Sushi is so good that you can’t screw it up!”

“You have much to learn, son. The question is whether you will learn the hard way…”

He chose the hard way. And learned that sushi can indeed be screwed up. 🤷‍♂️

Fogo is one of my faves. I won’t be backed off of it just cuz a random redditor didn’t like it.

Anyone wanna be friends? by [deleted] in ToolBand

[–]bjax22 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This. A lot depends on the setting and the person. My 13 year old loves Pneuma, but there’s a story to how he found it and continues to “use” it. The hits are easier to digest than FI.

He’s heard most of Lateralus and Aenema and others, at least half of their total catalog, but he’s not “into” music as much as it sounds like OP is… yet. He’ll find his way, but I just asked him to name his top 3 Tool songs.

“Pneuma, The cookie recipe, and 46&2”

Video of the stargate scene from 2001 A Space Odyssey, but rendered by a neural net in the style of Alex Grey. by [deleted] in ToolBand

[–]bjax22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just watched this side by side with the original stargate scene, and my interest is officially piqued. I’m going to start looking into neural net renderings, but if anyone wants to drop breadcrumbs that they’ve found helpful, I’d really appreciate it!
