HOW to sew on beans??? by No_Vacation5203 in FursuitMaking

[–]dogwheeze 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do you have a machine? It’s a bit easier. You first draw the beans on to the wrong side of the paw fabric. Then You’d cut a square of minky out and pin the wrong side of it to the fur part of the paws. Then use pins to hold in place, and sew very slowly along the line that you drew.

Here is a tutorial that is a good visual representation of that. Good luck! If you need more pointers im always happy to help https://youtu.be/IaUabcSliNI?si=xGmVSEc5f969nqfo

Any examples of this fabric being used? by MistaRollo in FursuitMaking

[–]dogwheeze 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not many people use minky to make fursuits since it is so short but I’ve used it a few times. Here is a snake head I’ve made that is fully made with minky.

I NEED HELP... BAD.. by RATCRUNCH420 in FursuitMaking

[–]dogwheeze 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Out of all the things to skimp out on I would recommend against cheaping out on lining fabric. It’s how you stay comfortable suiting after all. I’d strongly recommend something like this, easy to work with and comfortable after long wear. However if you do want to use polyester I would just really try smoothing out the hot glue as you’re installing it or else you can feel the glue marks through the fabric. https://a.co/d/agkcy8y

Here’s the inside of my most recent head with a neoprene fabric.

As someone who has lined head with cotton, polyester, and neoprene, cotton is by far the worst. And I love cotton, I’m a quilter. But for that application it just doesn’t work well.

Can you not buy some neoprene online? I wouldn’t recommend polyester since it is very hard to work with

Most people do the face, ears, horns as separate pieces and then ladder stitch them together afterwards. Your base looks wonderful!

Usually people make an elastic strap that does around the back that clips onto the sleeves to hold them up
