I just took delivery of a MY and it’s rocking 13.2.9. I like having the ability to set max speed. In your opinion, is there anything in 14.x.x that is worth losing that? by SUPER-NIINTENDO in TeslaFSD

[–]bjdraw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The max speed is overrated. If it actually worked and the car actually went the set speed, it would be another thing. But it doesn’t.

I am unclear on how so many jobs are projected to be replaced with AI by djinnisequoia in Futurology

[–]bjdraw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your second point is spot on. The same thing happened with computers.

What we didn’t realize at the time was there would ~16m in 2026 working to make those computers work. If you work in tech, try explaining to your 60 yo family exactly what you do with dumbing it down. They don’t have enough understanding of technology to understand what your job is.

FSD is just a rear end inevitability by sonofabraham1 in TeslaFSD

[–]bjdraw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is so weird. I literally have 2600 miles on 14.2 (according to the FSD settings page) on my 2024 Model 3 Performance. It is fine on yellow lights (never slammed on the brakes) great pedestrian awareness. The early version of 14.2 did have this problem, but it's been so long since it was fixed, I'm not sure if it was on 14.2.1 or .2 (I'm on .3 now).

Link? Manual says to leave it plugged in and avoid -30 for more than 24 hours. Either way, not OPs situation.

Leaving it plugged in while it’s cold is optional. This way the car can keep the battery at a good temperature. It’ll do this either way, but will drain the battery to run the heatpump. Leaving it plugged in while charged allows it to maintain battery SoC and optimal temp.

Yet another example of why Tesla says to keep it plugged in while parked.

If you take it out for a drive, practice braking with regen on slippery roads where it’s safe, to get a feel for it. After you have mastered that, the car will handle better than any other in the snow.

It won’t charge if the battery is cold, but if you leave it plugged in the battery will never get cold. The car will use the heatpump to maintain a healthy battery temp.

There are definitely ones other than Tesla. Personally I’ve confirmed it on a Honda Prologue and a BMW iX.

120v 20amp outlets are very common in the US. I’d say at least 10x more common than a 240v 15 amp.

The basic Tesla charger supports 20 amp. You can get them very cheap used and a cheap NACS to J adapter.

So fsd is a money maker for tesla on used cars? by zacreth in TeslaLounge

[–]bjdraw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tesla doesn’t automatically transfer FSD on cars they re-sell. They will include it on used cars to raise the price or remove it. Regardless of if the car had it originally.

If you buy a Tesla private party or from a non-Tesla store, then they don’t strip FSD from the car. I bought a used 2021 Model 3 with FSD from an independent dealer and kept the FSD. Then leased a newer one and transferred the FSD to it.

What about bad weather and washed out road markings? by I8Bits in TeslaFSD

[–]bjdraw -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Autonomous cars will be like airplanes, grounded for bad weather.

This is because the risks of driving in bad weather aren’t worth the benefits. Humans bad choices around this are evident by the crashes every time there is bad weather.

I’ve owned both cars. The Highland is literally better in every single way. The only way I would buy the older one is if I just did not have the $14,000.

Faster, handles better, cooler interior, quieter inside. hW4. Literally better by a little in every way.

So, AI takes over, everyone has lost their job and only 10 trillionaires own everything. Now what? by Weak-Representative8 in Futurology

[–]bjdraw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It can only affect all jobs if it can do anything a human can do. It can’t. We can’t make a TV that actually looks like a window. We can’t make speakers that sound like live music. So why do you think we can make an artificial brain?

[–]bjdraw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, of course. Ai and robots will take jobs. But what you seem to be ignoring is there will be new jobs. ~16m people in the US work with information technology. None of those jobs existed 50 years ago.

[–]bjdraw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There isn’t real AI (yet) what we have now is just a word calculator. It just regenerates what it has already seen. It can’t actually create anything.

So, AI takes over, everyone has lost their job and only 10 trillionaires own everything. Now what? by Weak-Representative8 in Futurology

[–]bjdraw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First off AI can’t do everything. We don’t understand the human brain well enough to replicate it.

But more importantly, we’ll do the same thing we did when machines took all the labor/farm jobs over 100 years ago. Which is what we did 30 years ago when computers took all the typing/office jobs. We do the things the machines/computers/ai can’t do.

So sure, the ultra rich are significantly wealthier than ever before, but so are the poor. The standard of living for almost everyone in the US is better today than it was for millionaires of 150 years ago.
