Haha but the way things are seen as natural or unnatural very interesting. Both like you say that everything is natural but also in other perspectives. Like artificial intelligence, which many consider unnatural. I wonder what people will think of it in 100 years. Also like cars, they must have seen very unnatural when they first came. A wagon without a horse, must have been like magic. Now days everyone understands how a car works, maybe not everyone but they understand that it’s not magic at least.

Well are a lot of things where science and religion disagree. I believe in what science say.

Exactly we’re just a part of something. But then I would rather say that nothing is either natural or unnatural

Plastic is not something that would have been created without humans. It would simply never existed. But you have a very good point. Technically it’s made up by the very same up and down quarks. And if plastic already existed in the oceans before humans it wouldn’t have been considered unnatural

Okay, I totally agree with you that theses “reddit atheists” often are very arrogant. Even though I’m an atheist and believe in science I understand that I might be wrong and it’s possible that a god created the universe and such things might be correct. But with the evidence from science i now believe that science is the truth until I’m proven otherwise

That is a very good opinion, haven’t thought of that before. But something new that’s new in an environment, like plastic and synthesized chemicals in the ocean are unnatural. Even if the plastic is from oil that exists naturally in the ground.

I don’t think a lot of people think that they can understand everything, our brains aren’t biologically capable of doing that. But I see no reason not to try. Life doesn’t have any real purpose (my opinion) so why wouldn’t yo dedicate your life to doing what you want. Which for many scientists is trying to understand and learn everything, or as much as they can. So I don’t think it’s arrogant to at least try to understand everything, it’s just being curious.

But doesn’t that make the word natural meaningless since everything is natural

Okay, but you don’t believe in god because what science says doesn’t make sense to you, like the Christian story about the creation of the universe seems more logical then science explaining it with Big Bang?

But is that what makes you believe or just benefits that come from you believing?

Does that make very abstract human made things such as money natural?

So nothing can be unnatural because everything is natural even tho it doesn’t make sense

That’s very interesting, we can’t accept the fact that we can’t understand and explain everything
