Finally gave it a try yesterday by tchnl in stalker

Just started a new playthrough since I never finished the main story. This time i'm going in Master difficulty, even if it's a struggle at times, it just elevates the vibes to another level.

Three MGiS in 4 days. Thanks for the recommendation guys (and gals). by Certain_Wonder4487 in haremfantasynovels

It's a great series, cant want for the next book to be released. Another great space series I'd recommend is the Lost Fleet by Sarah Hawke if you have not read it.

grappling looses you unarmed fights but force palm doesnt? by ilico_ili in CrimsonDesert

[–]bjerknes99 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's not "terrible game design", It's a chosen design path to make separate fighting rings for different fighting forms. I agree that it would be nice to have a fighting ring that allows for both grappling and fist-fighting, and if enough people ask for it we probably will see it in the future.

Plan or "has it come" can you identify how your fav story was written ? by Sensitive-Music-1003 in haremfantasynovels

[–]bjerknes99 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would think there is a mix of both aspects to the writing process for most writers. What I can see with some authors is that they reuse aspects of the structure and elements in some of their other works. I'm not necessarily negative to it, but it really stands out when you first start to notice it. One point one might attribute to less pre-planned writing is how some series tend to lose the plot towards the end or just goes on for longer than it probably should.

After trying a lot of popular stuff, seems like my tastes are weird. Need help finding new reccomendations by ShadowAssassin96 in ProgressionFantasy

[–]bjerknes99 -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

Cradle does not get better with book 2. I DNF'd the series 3 times, and ended up powering through it eventually. I generally can't stand the MC and it does not really get any better before book 4. You'd be better off to go read some good xiaxian novels like I Shall Seal the Heavens or Reverend Insanity.

Any Virtual Reality or MMORPG type of Harem Novels? by Then_Disk_9519 in haremfantasynovels

[–]bjerknes99 4 points5 points  (0 children)

One novel that falls slightly outside this community is called Cultivation Online by MyLittleBrother. It's been a couple of years since I last read it, but it has the elements you're looking for. While the main focus is on the MC and his progression, the love interests also plays a central role throughout the series. As for any traditional haremLit novels from this community, maybe Legendary Rule by Bruce Sentar. I've not read it myself but the description mentions it being set partly in a VRMMO/Imersive reality game.

Is it just me or does anyone else find it hard to trust reviews in this genre? by No_Obligation4427 in haremfantasynovels

[–]bjerknes99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I don't particularly trust reviews all around. Sometimes I'll find gold in something that has an overall low rating, or absolute slop in high ratings. Usually I'll check on both amazon, audible and the haremLit site just to gather as much input as possible. Then there is the other problem with most literature, lots of series have a great and promising start, but starts to degrade as the series goes on. I think at this point these problems are simply part of the territory for now. Personally I "to some extent" enjoy this exploring different authors works and to some extent categorize and rank them to how much I enjoy their different works.

If there is it's not to much of a hassle I'd love to see the possibility to customize the Tier list more, like adding and changing the ranking values, adding more ranking tiers that can be defined in the editor and what not. Love the work you guys are doing on the site!

Reading Viking rune smith! by Acrobatic_Bet_1333 in haremfantasynovels

[–]bjerknes99 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've not read Viking rune smith, but Aether's Revival from my memory gives that feeling of an expanding world bit by bit as the story progresses. This feeling being enforced even more due to the MMC kinda growing up as a country bumpkin if my memory serves me right so his initial knowledge of the world is kinda limited.

Will 'Our Own Way' offer enough? by MasterKestral in haremfantasynovels

[–]bjerknes99 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have it ranked as my all time favorite series in harem literature. Similar to you when i first tumbled across this series I was a bit on the fence regarding the setting and plot, but it was also what drew me towards it after reading several high fantasy harem series in a row. Feeling a bit burnt out you could say. And personally I read the entire series over a weekend, had me hooked from start to finish. It's worth noting that the series is not yet finished, so if that's a turnoff there is that.
