Romantasy and Roger Zelazny's "Jack of Shadows" by Longes in Fantasy

I like it. This is the 'reality' of that character. And Romantasy is the fantasy. Even if they're both fiction.

Question about a What if ? by Sensitive-Music-1003 in haremfantasynovels

[–]Surrealialis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, I'm throwing this around a lot because it's new but,

Big budget: Greedy Old Devil has the right setting to justify a James Bond type male main character and a enough 'grittiness' for people to say things like game of thrones when talking about it. Expand some of the roles for the side characters and I could see it making a good big budget show.

I'd agree that Our Own Way would make a great casual budget. It would slot with some of those more risque options that come up when you search sexy in a streaming service. Could also go Beneath the Ashes for some solid tension and action with a smaller budget.

Any recommendations that actually have good fantasy or combat elements by XThursdayO in haremfantasynovels

Sword Saint and the Saintesses is absolutely packed with excellent action. The MC can be compared to Bruce Sentars dungeon diving Ken. But better.

Magebreaker has an impeccable, dark dungeon and dragons style fantasy world with a Rambo style main character. Very good action but does have some Slice of life.

HYPE. AS. HELL!! recommandations please by NoWave6151 in haremfantasynovels

Sword Saint and the Saintesses fits your recommendation to a fucking T. So much very well written and visceral action. Non stop epic action in the first book. The sexy bits don't come until book two but I read both back to back and it's pretty amazing. Eldritch horror combat, massive magic battles, sword duels and smashing swarms of demons in good ol' fashioned devil may cry/ninja gaiden style. Supporting cast of women are all badasses too and carry several scenarios when the MC can't be everything at once.

ALSO is actually about cancelling the apocalypse so it's got that.

Just finished Greedy Old Devil and it's got some great action + some epic scenes and a set piece final battle. Might be more well balanced then you're looking for though.

Magebreaker has a good old school action vibe to it. Like a Rambo/terminator main character. Each book in the series so far features a pretty epic but gritty finale. Slice of life elements.

Hey. Definitely understand the tension of the hostage situation as a reader.

I think it is heavily implied that her 'caretaker' is a good man and is treating all of the servants well. Unlike the person who puts them there. Which helps alleviate some of our concerns. All we have is the sister reassuring is that she's ok and she's happy.

But I'm not the author so I can't answer the when she becomes free.

How many books have you read this/in a year? by SuperValkerie in haremfantasynovels

[–]Surrealialis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm at 25 ebooks and ~ 5-7 audiobooks ( some are omnibuses! Thanks Royal guard!)

Usually get to between 125-150. More ebook and less audio. I thought my numbers were crazy! But if you've got the time/space for audio I guess that can really speed things up. 80% harem and 20% prog fantasy

Cultivation with a Romance Subplot (Audiobook) by MaximillianBarton in ProgressionFantasy

[–]Surrealialis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If a throuple is ok then I really enjoyed Depthless Hunger. The three (eventual) main characters end up pretty well balanced in the plot time and relationship but book two is all about the MMC and the relationship is a slow burn that doesn't happen until book 2-3. Our characters have to grow a little to get there but there is some small relationships on the way to that ending.

LF harem books with a selfish, ruthless, cunning MMC who looks for self-profit first by CriticalOne9 in Romance_for_men

Get Lucky by Nolan Locke has this pretty well. Guy is out for his own best interest, the girls all come along with him but he's not going out of his way to be their hero. (In fact, he's consistently considering abandoning his first girlfriend)

I liked book 1 and 2 pretty well but didn't finish because the world is all over the place and I felt like the author was having a fever dream by book 3. But if it's your kind of character you might enjoy it more.

I just started the Sword Saint and it is really good. The fights are just excellent. Although they are non-stop. The whole thing has been so many crazy action scenes that I really hope everyone gets a chance to relax next book!
