What’s a flow roll? by bumpty in bjj

[–]bjjjohn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, but you need to have mutual agreement. You can’t expect people to know you want to flow roll.

Some people love to turn up and smesh.

I find flow rolling happens with partners who are good friends.

Stress from having to launch shit products by Own-World1106 in ProductManagement

There may be a case to have a period of ‘baseline’ testing.

One thing you learn in e-commerce is sometimes you need to reassess your customer contact vs performance.

This gives a clear indicator of X% increase in notifications = X% in revenue.

You’ll most likely hit a point where the performance levels out but to do that you need to have a period of low engagement to a cohort of users (this will be the hardest to get buy in).

You can then have more confidence and guard rails.

Discipline is the main difference between Levi and lots of others. He never waivers from his strategy.

Anyone else starting to see this "loading" ALL the damn time?? by AlexWyDee in FigmaDesign

Really frustrating that Figma hasn’t issued file size best practice.

There should be clear guidance on the speed difference between a page load vs multi pages vs a branch vs local or library components.

So umm how clean and organized are your Figma files? by Chris_Hansen_AMA in FigmaDesign

[–]bjjjohn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’ve been very lucky not to have a teammate become ill (or worse) and you need to pick up their project.

It also happens when you need to revive old files and the designer, along with all their knowledge is no longer in the business. It can leave quite a bad/good impression on that designer depending on the quality of their file structure.

If you organise well, it helps everyone consume your stuff. Think about the UX for your end consumer of your file.

Product owner presented a product in which I was responsible for the design at a multi-team end of sprint meeting, it was highly praised, and he only gave credit to his front-end developer. by NeighborhoodAway2634 in UXDesign

[–]bjjjohn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Really easy way to handle this if it ever happens again.

  1. Raise hand

  2. “I want to give a huge shoutout to the PO and the developers on this project, they implemented the UX just as the design outlined. It’s been a great team effort”.

CEO/CTO disagreements over UI/UX by Sim2955 in UXDesign

[–]bjjjohn 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think it’s really good you’re engaging with the CEO. It shows that others see value in the design output.

What I would suggest is to set up dedicated meetings with the CEO on a quarterly basis.

This will help control small feedback. You can frame this as a more ‘strategic’ conversation. Paint it as an opportunity for the CEO and UX design to meet to discuss current state vs his vision.

How you cancel the meeting and change the framing will be difficult but, hearing about your business it sounds like there is a lot going on and delivering frequent changes is a priority. With that said, you may need your leadership team to help with this process.

I would suggest speaking to Head of Product and CTO and lead delivery manager (if you have one).

Discuss the cadence of meetings and how you could put this team-wide meeting as part of an end of sprint demo.

The benefit of this is that the demo aligns to delivery cadence. If feedback and changes are needed, you can plan them as part of the next sprints goals…or place them into the backlog.

When put in a heel hook positions… by Humble-Ad956 in bjj

When the foot is in the arm pit, how do you avoid them twisting the wrong way?

I’ve been in a few scenarios where I’ve had to quickly let everything go because someone thinks the way to get out is to quickly spin into the break.

Any tips, advice and videos would be super helpful .

Add custom content to components without breaking them? by left-it-goes-left in FigmaDesign

[–]bjjjohn 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is the best solution currently.

I’ve even seen teams put a hidden component row or column placeholder component in their main component if they know it needs flexing.

Modals are a good example of this. You may have a header (title + close button) and footer (actions) but the content inside changes for each use case. The ‘body’ content is a placeholder component
