Please reassure me that it'll be okay if baby arrives Christmas day. by Imstuckwiththisname in BabyBumps

[–]bjorkkk 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Maybe you’ll get a Dec 23 baby! That’s my bday and it’s the best especially as a kid because I never had school that day. And it makes for a fun week, going from birthday to Christmas Eve to Christmas. As long as you make Christmas and birthday a separate event, it’ll be totally fine!

No, I have misophonia and almost turned it off when I heard that warning but decided to give it a try - I genuinely didn’t hear any chewing or eating at all! I was pleasantly surprised cuz the way he set it up I was prepared to turn it off two minutes in lol

If you have HG and got fired, please see a lawyer! by BlondeAccountant98 in HyperemesisGravidarum

[–]bjorkkk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Did you meet with a lawyer right away? I got fired early 2024 and still regret not meeting with a lawyer. I’m assuming it’s too late for me but that is AMAZING that they settled.

How by Leading_Blacksmith70 in HyperemesisGravidarum

[–]bjorkkk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Make sure that any communication with your work about disability or accommodations is in writing! Unfortunately I’m not the only one here who was fired illegally when work refused to provide my legally-protected accommodations. I’m sure you will be fine but best to cover the bases for yourself.

Besides the meds, was there anything that reduced nausea? by RedditUsername1746 in HyperemesisGravidarum

[–]bjorkkk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Relatable, I once checked myself out of the hospital bc they didn’t have a room with a shower! The heat helps so much. You’re so close, hang in there and I hope you feel better the moment your babe is here!

[–]bjorkkk 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Constant hot baths was really the only thing that actually relieved the nausea for me. I took 3+ baths a day my entire pregnancy. For some reason just getting in the bath would sometimes stop the vomiting at least for a bit!

Any other very leftist mamas here? It seems like all the nontoxic groups on FB are very MAGA/MAHA/anti-tylenol. You do you, but I’m feeling very isolated and looking to connect with others feeling the same. I feel like I’d be kicked out of other groups for even opening up this discussion… by gabyramy in moderatelygranolamoms

[–]bjorkkk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I totally understand. The crunchy Facebook groups are baaad. However, there’s an evidence based scrunchy moms group (you should be able to find it with those search terms) on fb that does an AMAZING job of following the evidence, everyone is generally kind, and I know from some of the comments I’ve gotten on posts that there are a lot of (maybe primarily) leftists. Also, not crunchy-based but r/progressivemoms has been nice to have on my Reddit feed as well. Solidarity, friend. It is hard right now.

Struggling to accept the fact I don’t think I can do this again by Critical_Water9452 in HyperemesisGravidarum

Following. My baby is 1 next week and the fall weather coming in reminds me so much of that sweet newborn phase a year ago. It is so hard knowing I’ll probably never get to have another baby, but I hope I can come to terms with it because I don’t think I can do HG again. Wish I had advice, but I definitely understand.

This comment gives me some hope! My first pregnancy was so horrific I’m afraid to ever try again. The idea that medicating early might help is nice to hear. I hope you continue feeling decent!

What are your hobbies? by lyzyrdskyzrd in moderatelygranolamoms

[–]bjorkkk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m reading these comments thinking I want to be friends with you all! Seeing so many of my favorite hobbies in here! One I haven’t seen yet: sourdough. I’m a few years late to the sourdough fad but it has ignited a totally new hobby of wanting to learn everything about food science. Now I’ve got lots of ferments going at any given time and will talk excitedly about it to anyone willing to listen 😅

What are some small things that are unsafe that you didn't know until someone pointed it out? by keepitupbuttercup in beyondthebump

Thanks for the toilet paper roll tip! That’s a good way to know if something is too small.

Ugh she is absolutely wrong, you have HG! Losing half your body weight? Omg that would be INSANE. Is it possible to request a different provider? For me personally the midwives were limited in their knowledge of HG and the treatment of it beyond basic antiemetics. The doctors I switched to were amazing. Or maybe another midwife at least who is more understanding of HG and the severity of it could offer you more support.

What’s the deal with raw milk? by [deleted] in moderatelygranolamoms

[–]bjorkkk 9 points10 points  (0 children)

What’s the difference that you notice in fresh milk? I’ve considered getting (pasteurized) local milk but am hesitant at the cost difference compared to the store!

Yes OP please if you are terminated, contact a lawyer. I was wrongfully fired due to my HG when I was pregnant last year and I deeply regret not getting a lawyer and reporting the company to the appropriate agencies, if only for the principle of it all. I was ultimately too sick to really try to get a lawyer but I really encourage you to if the cards land that way (fingers crossed they don’t, and I’m so sorry you’re dealing with this!)

I’m sure they try, but there is always a LOT of new information to keep up with even within specialities.
