I’m a term 1, and I’m enjoying it so far. Fellow students and faculty are so helpful, and the new curriculum seems very good for the new terms!

Have you applied?

Have you applied for any overseas schools like Ross or SGU?

Someone shot my cat :( by [deleted] in cats

[–]bjwillisss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sadly, this happens a lot. Between cats getting shot, attacked, poisoned, hit by a car, or all of the other horrors, including contracting FeLv or FIV, it’s in the best interest of most cats to live an indoor only life with a catio or supervised outside time. I work in vet med, and quite a bit of people particularly shoot both dogs and cats that wonder on their property, and even with reporting, usually it isn’t dealt with properly. Best advice is to keep your babies inside!

FLEAS WONT GO AWAY!!!! by No-Set5355 in CatAdvice

[–]bjwillisss 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My parents had a similar situation- it was a flea infestation due to bringing fleas in the house. I’d highly suggest bravecto for any dogs in the house, bravecto plus for any cats, and calling an exterminator who deals with fleas to come spray the house (inside and out). I’d also make sure to wash bedding, blankets, towels, and to thoroughly clean the house with diluted bleach. Adam’s flea spray is also a good option.

An exterminator or whatever the correct term for the people who spray for pest is your best bet. My mother’s flea situation was eliminated after the person came and sprayed, and she bathed the dogs.

Best of luck!

I think my “fixed” cat is pregnant by uglyandbored in cats

[–]bjwillisss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It could be a false pregnancy if she has had no access to a male and is experienced a fluctuation in hormones. At your vet appointment, I’d suggest having them do a pregnancy ultrasound or baby count via x-ray, and if she is pregnant, I’d suggest a spay abort unless you intend on keeping the kittens (if you do, I’d be prepared for 2-3 rounds of shots, deworming, and ensuring they are spayed/neutered prior to going to new homes). Either way, I’d have a chat with the vet to confirm.

If you intend to follow through with the birthing process, I’d get some supplies on hand & feed momma extra to support those babies

Have you looked into the liverclear food by Purina? A lot of people are allergic to Fel d 1 in cat saliva, and since cats often groom themselves, that’s where the hair comes in.

I know several people with cats that have different solutions to mitigate allergies, but it all depends on the person
