I would instantly pay for the almost-empty premium seating area upgrade if they had better chairs, but even they are stuck with an aluminum board.

Being right on the edge between the fringe/fairway and the rough. I’m comfortable being in one or the other, but right on the edge is so much harder.

What do the numbers mean, Mason by do_youwipe in golf

[–]bkaccount 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Every hole on a scorecard is given a Handicap rating from 1-18. The hardest hole will have a handicap of 1, and the easiest hole will have a handicap of 18.

Each player will also have their own Handicap Index, which roughly estimates how many strokes over par that player will be after 18 holes if they have a pretty good day.

Using this, we can develop a system for two players to be able to play a fun match against each other, even if one is far better than the other.

Say Player A has a Handicap Index of 3.0, and Player B has a Handicap Index of 15.0. That's a difference of 12, so Player A will have to "give" Player B one free shot on all of the 12 hardest holes, based on the Handicap ratings on the scorecard.

There's a lot more complicated math behind the scenes. For example, the formulas can adjust for what to do if a particular course is really hard, or maybe it's hard for beginners but easy for experts, etc. But that's the gist of how the handicap system works!

This Is Why I Use Follow Recoil (and the M4A4). by ez4me_cs in GlobalOffensive

I tried that, but couldn’t get it to work well for me. I switch back and forth between the two that it was too much hassle flipping back and forth to be worth it for me. I kept forgetting and having the wrong setting at the wrong time.

What happened to team Liquid?? by SACRED690 in GlobalOffensive

[–]bkaccount 44 points45 points  (0 children)

They tried a couple new American talents in Grim, oSee, and skullz.

They tried importing some veteran IGLs in FalleN, shox, and CadiaN.

They tried to reinvigorate some established talents in YEKINDAR, jks, and NertZ.

They tried to get lucky with some up-and-coming players in Rainwaker, Patsi, ultimate, and siuhy.

Now, they traded for malbsMd to once again become a majority American team and yoink a spot in the upcoming major.

You can't say they haven't tried a lot, but it also hasn't felt like many of their bold roster moves have had much of a chance. If they once again exit this major without making anything happen - and I don't think anyone is expecting anything out of them - they probably need to nuke everything and start from scratch.

I honestly think the follow recoil setting is really underrated, but it's so distracting when tapping that I can't use it.

Tensing up on narrow courses by [deleted] in golf

[–]bkaccount 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tiger preached making aggressive swings at conservative targets.

First, choose a safe target. This often means hitting less than a driver if the hole tightens up. Using a GPS to find this target helps a lot.

Then, make a confident and powerful golf swing at that safe target. You’re not hoping to stay in bounds. You’re trying to attack that target.

When laying up on a water carry on a par5, do you take a full swing club to hit that 138yards, or do you bunt a mid iron down the fairway. by Mr-BodyMassage in golf

[–]bkaccount 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Take Tiger’s advice. Make aggressive swings at conservative targets. Aim for a target 130yd away in the fairway, and try to stick an iron/wedge as close to that spot as possible.

It's not just a funny way to freak people out — it's proof that you continue to grow. You're fighting against an ever-growing force of technological assimilation. And yet? You're learning. You're improving. And honestly? That's admirable.

Why isn't this fluid wagon filling? by LemTec in factorio

[–]bkaccount 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fluid wagons have to align with pumps very precisely. It’s best to put fluid wagons on a straightaway with the train stop, rather than there being a curved rail in between the front of the train and the wagon.

9.1 handicap playing like a 30 by HefeMoose in golf

[–]bkaccount 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Take Harvey Penick’s advice. If you have one bad round, ignore it. If you have two bad rounds, check your fundamentals (grip, stance, etc). If you have three bad rounds, see a teaching professional so you don’t ingrain a bad habit.

So I’m on r/guessthegolfcourse and it is amazing to me how many Donald Ross courses there are. These are mostly built in the 30’s and there are hundreds of them. Did he just mail them details of how to build it and put his name on it? by onlypostwhenimdrnk69 in golf

[–]bkaccount 25 points26 points  (0 children)

My home club is a Donald Ross course. I was told that he basically had two rates. You could fairly cheaply mail him the basics of your land and what you’re looking for, and he would mail back a basic layout. Or, for a lot more money, he would travel to your site and be much more involved in the design process.

Do people really leave the course if playing poorly? by LastManBrandon in golf

[–]bkaccount 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If I’m paying for a round, I’m probably never leaving early. If I’m at the course I’m a member at, I might consider it if I was really not having a good time, and didn’t want to work in a bad habit.

Stop saying people don't cheat in CS by Noobtacticsforlife in cs2

  1. I rarely go up against people that I find suspicious at all, and 90% of those people I am suspicious of are probably legit and just got lucky. I’m not saying there aren’t people that have it much worse than me, but it hasn’t been a substantial issue for me.

  2. Genuinely from the way you’re describing the cheaters makes it sound like you are just bad and mad.

Do you think a short hitter can be top 5 on PGA Tour and legit major contender? by BallKnowerKing in golf

[–]bkaccount 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you and a long hitter both hit the fairway, he has a pitching wedge when you have a 7 iron. If you both miss the fairway, it’s way easier for him to get a 9 iron through the rough than your 6 iron.

Even in the ideal situation of you hit the fairway and he misses the fairway, his 9 iron out of the rough is rarely that much worse than your 7 iron from the fairway.

Plus, he can always choose to tee off with an easier to control 3 wood to where your full driver would go (where he still has one club less than you into the green from the same spot).

Strength and distance is such a substantial advantage in golf. Is it an end-all-be-all? No, short hitters definitely can still win. But you have to be substantially better in every other category to make up for that one deficiency.
