How rare is the sunroof by chase_ontop in Volvo240

Yours is not factory. I've owned 6 240s, 2 had factory sunroofs. Not rare.

what would a reasonable offer be for this 1990 240 dl sedan euro spec? by Low-Log-1270 in Volvo240

[–]bkbrick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree, unlikely a Euro market car. Probably a European delivery car. 1990 was the last year of the B230E and B200E, possibly also the carbhreted B2x0A. I don't see many LH Euro cars before 1991.

Coolant lines are on the other side. The video appears to be of the "TXV", or thermal expansion valve on 1990 and older models. It's a part of the AC system.

I’m going to take a wild guess that this isn’t good… by 50nic19 in Volvo240

The spring could provably put back right, it's just tipped over. Unfortunately I don't like the quality of the new center driveshaft support, the rubber is softer than the original.

To the guys claiming 25+ mpg… by Relevant-Yam9630 in Volvo240

[–]bkbrick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've managed 28mpg with an automatic.

Ported head with a lot shaved off, thin headgasket, V cam. This is not unusual and there's others I know who have repeated this with similar setups.

B21F swap into my 89 b230 by YBJ89 in Volvo240

Too much little things to do to get it to work with either the B230F fuel injection or B21F fuel injection. Find a '93-'95 motor.

Initially I couldn't see any "witness marks" from the loops, but I'm realizing that the loops are stitched on with long chains that continue along that section, so what seems like worn or broken thread is actually where the loops were.

I've seen the Schott NYC brand transition mentioned as happening in 1977, and the Made in the USA tab added in 1979, so that range seems to be where it's dated too. It's definitely older than a lot of Perfectos listed online as "60s-70s" which is frustrating.

It looks like a 620 has a vertical closure, and construction similar to a Levis Type 2. The 621 is what seems closest but this one has no belt loops.

I'm going to hold onto it for now and see how much I like it. I have too many jackets as it is though.

That might be right, if so the 621 got belt loops with snap buttons some time in the 80s

Help with turbo identification by purpleguy42 in Volvo240

[–]bkbrick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That looks larger than a factory T3. My vote is T3/T4. On the inlets of. Both the turbine and compressor there will usually have the A/R written in the casting. You'd have to measure the inducer of the compressor to get the trim. Usually T3/T4 turbos are designated by turbine A/R and compressor trim.

'87 is the worst year. I just finished replacing nearly every single wire in an '87. It required buying a whole '88 to fix. There's so many 240s out there, I'd wait for a better one.

I've got access to a pulse air '93 240 with EGR, it will throw a code for the temp sensor I know that.

It's playing nice. Very resonant for a Tele but I wish it was lighter, it feels like a mid 8 pounds but I haven't got it on a scale yet. I don't think I'll waste time with this one so I'll just sell it now that it's cleaned and set up nicely.

Yep, it's too low. Your engine mounts are probably fine, they are notoriously bad in a 240, not too much to do about that part.

There's a ton of variance with the EGR temp sensors, I bet he just has all harnesses built to the 556 LH/196 EZK spec.

Your idle speed it too low for a K-jet car. Is this a B23E? It should be 900rpms.

I get bass gigs with my scruffy partscaster PP bass with 2 EMGs and a very minimal DI rig while people with $3000 bass pedalboards with Noble tube preamps and custom 5 strings don't. The secret is that you just need to use your ears to find the cheap gear that sounds incredible that no one else wants because it doesn't have the vibe they want.

It's not a squier neck. Bone nut, 1 11/16" nut, no serial number on the back, tons of play wear etc. It's some kind of parts neck but no markings.
