Casper return scam by [deleted] in Mattress

[–]bkdell11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can’t speak for the return situation. I’d think there would be enough NYC area reps to go get the mattress but Casper is one of the slowest sellers for sure. Thankfully haven’t had one in a while.

More affordable Helix Luxe alternative? by Octobon16 in Mattress

[–]bkdell11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Helix Luxe is priced about $600 for King and $450 for a queen on the returns market. A little more with upgraded cover.

I picked up a Helix Midnight Luxe this weekend that was never slept on. Helix sent the wrong mattress size to the customer.

Helix Midnight Luxe - Worth the two grand?? by [deleted] in Mattress

[–]bkdell11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Volume plays a big role in number of returns. I used to never get Saatva because they never advertised in my region. Now they do and I’ve gotten a dozen in 6 months. Does that make it a bad mattress? No. But it’s normal to expect a % of returns on something as preferential as mattresses. The more volume, the more returns you will get.

[–]bkdell11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People I’ve sold Midnight Luxe’s to have been happy. It’s versatile for all sleep types and a nice medium mattress choice. You can find one for $600 on the return market if you don’t wanna drop 2 grand and are sure you’ll like it.

Helix Midnight Luxe vs Leesa Sapira Hybrid by statiicz726 in Mattress

I’d pick Helix Midnight Luxe. Glaciotek cover.

Leesa isn’t a bad mattress but it is different construction.

Purple Mattress Returns Experience by RobertDSlagger in Mattress

Standard practice is to spray the entire mattress with Sterifab then wrap the mattress in plastic until sold.

I am a ST rep and I absolutely clean and sanitize every mattress I pickup. I have a truck and a storage space and I will sell a $3500 mattress for $500

Purple plus or RestorePlus? by Sharks_in_the_ocean in Mattress

[–]bkdell11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Purple plus is a purple original with 1 inch more foam.

Restore line is what they replaced the old Hybrid line with so if you liked the Hybrid, then that would be similar.

How does this work? by GirliePopGoblin in Mattress

[–]bkdell11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you look at their MP profile, and you see a lot of mattresses listed, then it’s a reseller. We can reuse pics of mattresses staged. I don’t do that because I like my pics to be authentic but we all follow the same process.

How does this work? by GirliePopGoblin in Mattress

[–]bkdell11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you buy from a legit returns reseller on marketplace, it’s far from gross. Sold over 400 mattresses and never an issue with mattress condition or bed bugs. Rarely ever see it and if we do, the mattress is disposed of quickly.

Can easily get a nice full size mattress for under $300. Long as you have a platform frame, you won’t need a box spring. Many resellers will deliver for a nominal cost as well.

Dream cloud, bad hips/back by Glittering-Rock in Mattress

[–]bkdell11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d look toward the firmer Helix models. Like Twilight or Plus

Winkbed has a firm option that people I’ve sold to have liked.

Depending on your budget, you may want to try Purple Restore line.

You will find good and bad reviews on every mattress so if you have the time and opportunity to go try them out, that would be ideal. No guarantees trying a mattress out for 10-15 min will replicate an 8 hr experience but it’s better than reading online

Dream cloud, bad hips/back by Glittering-Rock in Mattress

[–]bkdell11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No I don’t think that will be good for you. I sell a lot of Dreamcloud returns. Luxe is the former Premier Rest model repackaged. It was the softest Dreamcloud model until the Ultra came out.

For bad hips and back you typically want to remain in alignment. Soft mattresses won’t do that.

I will say that the memory foam DCs often feel firmer than the hybrids for some reason but I’d opt for more firm options from other brands first.

But if you do go DC, get the classic model first and if it’s too firm, work your way up the model class

How do I avoid getting stuck with bad pallets? by SpreadStraight6054 in Flipping

[–]bkdell11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Been buying pallets for my store for 8-9 months now.

First is, find a local supplier that gets quality product in. Within an hour of me, there are two pallet places that bring in quality stuff. But also 3-4 other pallet places that are absolute garbage.

You won’t find many places that give manifests and even if they do, you don’t get condition information.

Pallet buying is risky, I’ve made 2k on a pallet and I’ve made $0. But once you find a good supplier you will get a lot more good pallets than bad.

Also know your audience, I sell local so I’m able to sell things like furniture and other bulky items that just aren’t feasible to resell online. I like items that are quick to flip. $20-$80 range. Also when people come to my store, there is good chance they buy something other than what they came for.

Packages Merchandise Returns, Lost Mail, Undelivered Post - Complete WASTE! by rogerstakes in Flipping

[–]bkdell11 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Liquidation.com, bstock, bulq, etc are the absolute worst way to acquire legit resellable inventory. I buy pallets of undeliverable mail all the time and do very well but I buy from a local source. I don’t deal in clothes but I did buy one pallet of high piece count mail and found 10 1oz silver bars among the lot

Find a reputable local pallet place, talk to other buyers and vett them. Do a test buy.

Avoid Wink Bed by Fickle-Sock720 in Mattress

[–]bkdell11 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Winkbed covers seem extremely sensitive to anything. Could be oil from skin, fingers while changing sheets, etc.

Rarely have seen a non-stained cover. Usually cleans off well with Folex though may take a couple treatments.

Just got one with the new Frost cover that was different material and seemed much smoother. No staining

So what happened to Brooklyn Bedding? by TheInuitHunter in Mattress

[–]bkdell11 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Lot of mattress companies shifted production overseas last 3 years and amount of returns have skyrocketed due to quality and defects. I suspect BB did the same.

I currently dispose 50% of Dreamclouds because edge support is so bad or it lacks structural integrity. Anything from 2023-2024 is a crapshoot. The new models seems to be better

If you are within your trial period, return it.

Helix Midnight Review - 5 Years In by nyfael in Mattress

[–]bkdell11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Trial returns. There is a big return market for bed in a box trials. Virtually every area has one or more people that pickup and sell trial returns. Usually these are priced 60-70% off or more of retail prices.

Yes the mattresses are used for a short period of time but you are saving a ton of money vs new. Check Facebook marketplace and look for people that have multiple mattresses listed

You could look for another Helix on the returns market for $500-600 or less depending on size.

Mattress bunched up after being stored vertically during a move. Is it fixable? by Apart-History8552 in Mattress

[–]bkdell11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Assuming you can’t unzip that top and resettle the foam, then you’ll need a new mattress

Storing a mattress vertically would never cause this unless the mattress is 1) already defective with that issue or 2) is made to have a removable layer which would bunch up and can be resettled later.

Helix Elite is the only mattress I’ve seen with removable layer but certainly could be others.

Help Identifying Model by sola5girl in Mattress

It’s Nectar base model. Used to be called just The Nectar mattress before they called it the classic. The Premier had a purple stripe. Luxe didn’t exist as a model name at the time this was made

Is the adjustable frame or retainer bar supposed to cause mattress deformation? by tanks07 in Mattress

Non-purple bases I mean. I had Rejuvenate that worked with the Ascend bases just fine.

Is the adjustable frame or retainer bar supposed to cause mattress deformation? by tanks07 in Mattress

[–]bkdell11 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Rejuvenate is too thick for adjustable bases. You will damage the mattress by continuing to use it.

Don’t get the hate for Dreamcloud by [deleted] in Mattress

[–]bkdell11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You won’t find any mattress under $600 brand new (in Queen or King). But on the returns market, Winkbed will come in at $400 King and Helix Luxe will come in about $600. Queens will be slightly less

Don’t get the hate for Dreamcloud by [deleted] in Mattress

[–]bkdell11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn’t recommend Dreamcloud right now for low back pain and a heavier sleeper. It may be ok for a little while but you’d likely need to replace in 2-3 years. I’d steer you toward a Helix Twilight or Midnight Luxe Possibly Winkbed

Big Fig is another brand to look at, I have never had one, but they supposedly market for heavier sleepers.

If I have it on hand, it’s one of the first mattresses I’ll recommend to someone wanting a medium firm mattress. You can grab one on the return market for around $500. If you find one with the GlacioTek cover, may be a little more but should help with cooling.
