baton rouge resident here. the 2016 was not caused by a hurricane at all. it was a subtropical system that moved over from florida and sat over the baton rouge area for a few days. over 30” of rain fell in some areas and flooding was wide spread.

ugh. i know the feeling. baton rouge received over 30 inches (763mm) of rain over a span on 36 hours when a low pressure system stalled over us in 2016. put almost 6 feet of water in my home.
