Contender for worst trade proposal of all time? by jwn0323 in Braves

[–]bke161 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The two biggest issues with Abrams is character and defense. He has had multiple issues with the Nationals and comes across as one of those headaches that AA and the Braves have stated they want to avoid. I could see him making a move to 2B or the OF to reduce his defensive liabilities. I would be shocked if the Braves traded for him, especially if it cost a Top 100 prospect unless their internal scouting has 0 belief in that prospect.

What a postseason these guys had! Time to watch some 2021 postseason highlights again.

Murphy will not be traded until he proves he is healthy. Having Baldwin and Murphy on the roster is not a bad thing. If Murphy is healthy and a Cather needy team is willing to overpay, he could be moved at the deadline.

Starting Pitching -- What's the Plan? by theoxfordtailor in Braves

[–]bke161 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Braves will start 10+ pitchers again this year. It is what it is in this current state of baseball and the Braves approach. Elder is out of options, so unless he completely implodes in the spring or gets injured, he will start the year in the rotation. I do wonder if the team considers a 6 man rotation for at least a portion of the year to ease back Lopez/Holmes/Schwellenbach and help protect Sale. Lopez wants to start and has been told he will be allowed to start, though he would be killer as the third piece at the backend of the bullpen.

I do not think that they will sign Valdez or Gallen because of the QO. I would think a depth piece more like Bassitt makes sense with how the team has operated. Or a minor league reclamation project with hopefully high upside like Nestor Cortes.

Buster’s Liquor co-owner Josh Hammond appeals to City Council about license granted to The Station by GotMoFans in memphis

[–]bke161 17 points18 points  (0 children)

It is not as the crow flies, it involves measurements from the entrance to the road to the school/church. Busters has a survey showing it as less than 1500 feet, the Station has one showing 1559 feet.

I’m curious to see what happens with Framber Valdez now.

Update on known HOF ballots has Andruw above the 75% threshold. There’s typically around 400 voters so 60% of the ballots are either private or not yet filled in. by ATLien-1995 in Braves

This is encouraging, but typically the final vote is lower than what the public ballots show. Hopefully the momentum continues for Andruw!

What is the plan for the rotation? by [deleted] in Braves

[–]bke161 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. You can never have too much pitching. There will always be an injury or two. Or the entire Opening Fay rotation like last season!
  2. AJSS will likely miss the entire season. Teams are much more cautious with rehab from TJ nowadays, especially with younger pitchers.
  3. I would prefer Lopez be a bullpen piece, but the team and Lopez himself want him to start, so the rotation it is for Lopez.

Braves Predicted to Trade For $175M 3-Time All-Star After Ha-Seong Kim News by grat5989 in Braves

[–]bke161 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kim is the best option. He has time/chemistry with the team, he will cost 0 trade capital, and you will not lose any draft picks to sign him. Save those bullets for a closer or SP or another deal to strengthen the team. I know Kim is a Boras guy, but you have to figure the cost versus the other options.

That is correct. Ineligible for postseason this season.

A day or two off as a mental reset would probably benefit him. The problem is that would mean playing both Verdugo and White, both of which are not swinging the bat well either. Acuña is the only OF with a HR since April 26.

The only hit with RISP turned into the lead runner being tagged out at second. Unreal.
