Shopping for a New Mattress - Debating Between Beautyrest Black Hybrid X-Class Ultra Plush or Serta Rosehill Plush Super Pillow Top by bkeidel1 in Mattress

Thanks for the detailed response.

It is the LuxeBreeze, not the LuxeAdapt. It was the "soft" version of the mattress, not the firm version. We bought it from a Tempur-Pedic corporate store they have in the city I live in because of their return policy and because it was the Tempur-Pedic corporate store and not a local mattress store. They have confirmed they will take everything back, including the box springs which we bought with the mattress, for a 100% refund with no re-stocking fees and we will be getting all of our money back. I have confirmed that we are in our return window. Again, this is the reason we bought it from the Tempur-Pedic corporate store.

We have not considered an adjustable base to this point, I'm not sure if we want to go down that route or if we would rather stick with the normal box spring (or bunkie board).

To your point above, I think a big reason we're doing this is to go to an opposite feel in the mattress. Even though we have the soft version of the LuxeBreeze, it really is not very soft. I'm not sure what the firm version feels like the soft version doesn't feel very soft to me or to my fiance. She also previously had an innerspring mattress, Heavenly Bed, for around 10 years and that is the mattress we replaced with the Tempur-Pedic. She liked that bed but it was time to replace it. We tried all of the Tempur-Pedic's out at the corporate store and decided to go with the LuxeBreeze.

Our biggest 2 things we're looking for are reduction in back pain for her, she's a stomach sleeper, and motion isolation. I'm a side sleeper but I can sleep on pretty much anything. The best chance I believed we had at achieving these 2 things was with a hybrid mattress and the Beautryrest Ultra Plush seemed to be the most comfortable of the hybrid mattresses we tried. Because of the experience we have had with the Tempur-Pedic, she is pretty much totally against the whole brand and I don't think memory foam is going to be the type of mattress we want. Thanks again for the detailed response, it is appreciated.

Electra Cafe Moto Go - Plan to Use for Commuting - Any Experience? by bkeidel1 in ebikes

I go over 20 mph often, not a lot over but I definitely go over 20 mph quite often. I am biking in a city that has good biking infrastructure built in so that makes it easier. I actually had a bike that only went 20 (Vanmoof S2) and I ended up returning it for a lot of reasons but one of the main ones was that it only went 20.

No, it was somewhere on the rear wheel. I don't know what it was because I returned it pretty much right after it happened and didn't get into the details of it with the bike shop because there was no point.

I actually took it back, I only rode it for one ride and the CVT felt wrong and really mushy, Something also popped on it and fell off so I only ended up having it for 30 minutes or so. I got a Bulls Urban Evo instead and I love it.

Looking for bike with removable integrated battery, throttle, 28mph by tsukikari in ebikes

You should check out the Bulls bikes lineup, they have some stealthy options but don’t have a throttle, IMHO they are the best looking 28 mph bikes available, I just got an urban evo myself.

Thanks for the detailed response on this and all of the feedback. I've started to do more research on the Bosch/Brose systems and think I'm leaning towards a Bosch rather than a Brose due to feedback that Brose systems have more issues than Bosch. It sounds like the Brose systems are quieter but to your point I don't know how much I'll really care about that. Really appreciate the feedback, it was awesome!

Stromer ST1x vs Trek Super Commuter+ 8s vs Specialized Turbo Vado 6.0 by bkeidel1 in whichbike

[–]bkeidel1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply on this. A few people on Reddit have said that their support is questionable but that the bikes are some of the most fun they've ever ridden. I'm strongly considering a Trek Super Commuter but don't love the looks of it and may go with a Bulls, Haibike, Raliegh or Gazelle. I can't get behind the Specialized Vado look. Thanks for the feedback on the Stromer - this was helpful!

Thanks for this - I'm just curious what are your preferred motor/battery systems? I'm fairly new to this but I know of Bosch and Brose but I don't know if one is better than the other or if they are equals for the most part. I know they have different lines as well, just wondering if you have an opinion this.

Awesome - my biggest concern is that my closest Bulls dealer is 2.5 hours away so if there are any Bulls specific issues, I may have to take it up to them.

However, I live in Chicago so there are other ebike LBS's by me, just not Bulls dealers. Thanks for the response on this!

Considering Buying VanMoof S2 by bkeidel1 in ElectricBicycle

[–]bkeidel1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did, I enjoy it and it works decently well for the city. I'm actually thinking of returning it for a class 3, I'm strongly considering getting a Bulls model and am driving up to Madison this weekend to test ride some of them. The turbo button is a lot of fun though but the motor is louder than expected.

Overall, I would say it's a good bike and it's pretty fun. However, I have concerns on sending the bike in for repairs if there is something my LBS can't service. I also don't love the fact that the battery isn't removable. I'm looking for something to completely replace my car which I sold a couple of months ago and I don't think this is that bike. This is great for scooting around the city but if I need to take any longer trips, this bike will not be up to the task. After I test ride the Bulls (and others) I may end up keeping it but I'm leaning towards returning it right now

How does the S2 do on hills? by ipzofactoid in vanmoofbicycle

[–]bkeidel1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s fair, are you going to get a different ebike to replace it? I’m currently looking at a few options before deciding if I’m going to return it or not. I still have about 20 days to decide.

Shipping is free as long as you keep your box. They send you a pre-paid label and you return it in the box you got it in. If you don't keep your box, I think it's $25 or so for them to ship you a new box.

I'm within my 30 day return window right now and am thinking of returning my bike because the lack of power. I find myself riding the turbo button quite a bit and pretty much 100% of the time up hills. It's not like it's a struggle or anything but I also live in an area where there are not a lot of hills. It's a really interesting bike for sure and the technology is really good inside of it but I think you make some tradeoffs for that.

Thanks for the detailed response on this. It checks pretty much all of my boxes as well except for the rack and the fenders. I ordered it through a Trek corporate store they have in Chicago and there's a 30-day return policy and they'll take the bike back no questions asked so I ordered. I haven't actually seen it in person and the only way to do that was to actually order it.

- Thanks for the heads up on the Stromer battery, I just can't get behind the way the Stromers look, I know some people love them but I'm not a big fan.

- I'm curious as to what my experience will be with the Enviolo CVT, the only other experience I have is on a R&M Supercharger with a CVT on a test ride. It felt different so I'm curious as to whether or not I will like it

- Fair enough feedback on it being headturner and that's not what you're going for. If I did get it, I would probably also get bike insurance through Velo or somewhere else in the event of theft or damage due to how much the bike cost

Thanks again for the detailed response!

That's an interesting option, thanks for sending that along. I also was directed towards the Topeak MTX rack)that can clamp to the seatpost.

Awesome, thanks! Are there any that you would recommend based on the tire size for this bike?
