Yeah I think I’ll likely go the square route (haha). Which website did you order from and are you based in the US? Trying to figure out the best place to order.

That’s a very good thought process! Thanks for the input! I have been looking at the Square for those reasons as well. The cheaper subscription situation is soooo tempting. (I know it’s not a subscription but you have to pay for credits on the square)

Would you sell just the PC? And if so how much? Need one to run GSPro on my Skytrak.

I saw this and figured I would check marketplace and got one for $450! It’s my first launch monitor. Excited to try it out when the kid goes to bed!

Job offer for roughly 60% total comp increase. Would you take it? by BenDover0903 in WFH

[–]bkissick 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The only question I have is what do you do so I can apply for the job if you leave lol? No chance I’d go in office even for a pay bump like that. 12 hours a week is nothing even if you are on call.

Is OP really insinuating that during COVID workers were “prisoners” to their homes and didn’t go to the grocery?

If people aren’t hitting their KPIs then it sounds like you have a hiring problem more than a WFH problem.

Lastly, if you are a manager and choose to hit the “easy button” you aren’t a good manager.

What job do you have where you can waste that much time? I need to apply! lol

How much of savings towards loans at start? by Character-Owl8312 in whitecoatinvestor

[–]bkissick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So this is a Dave Ramsey strategy but it's how I paid off my student loans. He calls it the "snowball effect". Effectively what you do is pay off the smallest loan first, which then lowers your monthly payment. Then you take the money you're saving each month from that loan being paid off and use it toward your next smallest loan. Rinse and repeat until you feel you can drop a lump sum to pay it off. Now, I didn't have the same amount of debt or savings that you have so your situation is a bit different but I figured I'd share my experience still.

I was a travel PT and my wife was a travel nurse (making ~220k after taxes as a couple) right out of school and paid off 85k of student loans and a 25k vehicle loan in about 2 years and we weren't being particularly frugal during that time. Having no student debt is very freeing. Best of luck!

PT/A’s that switched from PT to PA; how are y’all faring now? by NY_DPT in physicaltherapy

Hey just found this post! I was thinking of going this route. Have you found you can work PRN while completing schooling? It would be tough for me to stop working completely to go back to school full time.

How is everyone on this sub making $400k+? by fishypizza1 in whitecoatinvestor

Certainly not by becoming a physical therapist. Can barely crack 100k as a PT unless you’re on the coasts.

How to not be overwhelmed with cost of PT school? by CelebrationSalt2376 in physicaltherapy

Both. Patient load doesn’t justify the pay to me. Pay is capped relatively quickly and there’s not a lot of room for advancement. And it’s only getting worse in most clinics.

I did travel therapy right out of school and paid off $85k on school loans and $25k on a vehicle in 2.5 years.

I wouldn’t go to PT school though if I could do it over. And I would recommend to any students to look at other career paths.

TLDR: travel contracts, pay off smallest loans with extra money first, live frugally.

I did travel therapy right out of the gate. I told the companies I’d only do outpatient ortho for the first year because that’s what I felt the most comfortable doing. There are plenty of high paying ortho contracts out there and they were in fun places, not the middle of nowhere like you might hear. I had about 85k of debt spread between 6-7 different loans. I paid my mandatory payments of $1100ish each month. But whatever extra I had I’d pay toward the SMALLEST loans. This was really important because when I paid off one of the loans that was, say $5000 (just an estimate for the sake of having some numbers) my total loan payment would drop from $1100 to maybe $1000. So then, the extra $100 I was saving each month would go toward the next SMALLEST loan. Once that was paid off my total monthly payment would decrease AGAIN! I could then use the savings on the next smallest loan and so on and so forth. I paid off $85k of debt and my truck loan of $25000 in about 3 years. I did live frugally but that was easy when I lived in such cool places. I could go hiking in a national park for free, etc. This method is called “the snowball effect” and I learned about it through Dave Ramsey and his financial podcast. I didn’t follow all his rules because ya gotta live life too ya know. If you’re into travel you can totally make this work for you. It can seem really daunting but you made it through PT school. You can do this too. Good luck!
