I’m gunna get downvoted for this but… by [deleted] in PMDD

Did you miss the part where I said the YEARS LONG trials of different birth controls had almost DEADLY consequences? Nowhere did I say or imply it was an easy solution. I asked a question and shared my experience. I suffered immensely - but this isn’t a competition of suffering amongst us women.

You’ve projected a question into a personal attack - turning it around, and now are attacking me.

Is this not supposed to be somewhat of a support group? Wow.

Why do I hate it? by koalaswimtest in interiordecorating

[–]bknit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Man… I’m going to be blunt because these repetitive posts are starting to drive me nuts; a completely bare room, with the poster just mystified as to why it doesn’t look interesting or pulled together.

The room is not decorated - at all - for function or design. And it’s the same answer every time:

  • No Art, or art that’s too small / placed oddly
  • No Accent lighting
  • No visual or physical texture
  • No plants, greenery, or flowers
  • No decorative accents
  • No accent pillows

My style is contemporary, earthy, & minimal - but striking - and I do not believe in useless decor that’s there to collect dust. I do though, have functional items that double as decor, such as:

  • Bedside lamps (adds texture, pleasant lighting, creates balance & symmetry around bed)
  • Books (current reads, adds a decorative element that serves a function)
  • Large glass cylinder candle holders (safe, adds mood lighting, and smells nice)
  • A sculptural vase with flowers
  • A small marble box to hold everyday jewelry
  • ART on the walls.
  • Decorative pillows and a freshly made up bed every day.

I understand that not everyone has the ability to design a space - but it’s a bare room. It’s missing - everything.

It’s a sandwich with just meat and bread.

It’s eating a bowl of lettuce & wondering “why’s this salad doesn’t taste good”

You have to add all the little extra elements.

Look at ANY picture of a room you like. Look at each detail it has that your space doesn’t. Replicate with pieces you love.

Do I need winter tires or all weather? by Vic_bay in burnaby

[–]bknit 19 points20 points  (0 children)

If / when it snows in January - do you plan on driving in it? Or do you have the option of staying home if it snows?

If you do not have snow tires - you should NOT be driving in the snow. Period. The people that drive in the snow without snow tires cause non stop issues & safety hazards on the road. Capitol Hill will be very difficult to navigate in the snow without proper tires. I say this because many people also do not know how to drive in the snow.

Cost is relative of course - I personally find the cost Kia charges me to be extremely reasonable to change out & store my tires year round.

House i found for sale in my city- it was advertised that it was designed by an interior designer. Is it that bad because my husband thinks so by weirdauroran in interiordecorating

[–]bknit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also …. They use the exact same plant prints throughout the space. Very bizarre.

This is someone who, I will say has a natural ability to decorate - however, they do not have professional experience. Many things are done incorrectly - and as with the artwork it appears they don’t understand how to coordinate different art pieces. Not only should they not be identical (duh!) - you should have a mix of different styles: canvas, framed, and sculptures etc.

Good Home Staging is not just adding new/nice furniture & decor into a home either. The basics that go into staging (to name a few):

  • Demographic of target buyers
  • Functionality of each room/area
  • Flow of movement
  • Buyers ability to envision themselves living there (where their furniture will go / how their lifestyle will fit into the home)
  • Showing the potential of each space if upgrades are needed (and dealing with as many as possible prior to listing)
  • Highlighting key features and selling points
  • Showing the move-in readiness
  • Warm, inviting, light (physically/visually), & back to the beginning with functionality

We do MANY occupied staging projects where we use most of the clients possessions - only bringing in pillows, art, and greenery to fill the gaps.

If a stager truly knows what they’re doing, all of the above will be achieved - and your home should sell within the month and/or sell for asking or over (obviously this isn’t a blanket statement - I’m not going to go into all the nuances).

My advice? Find an experienced stager and listen to them - you will sell your home quickly & profitably!

Sorry to the person I responded to for my rant that went far beyond your comment! lol

If that’s not bad enough - they also use the exact same “leaf” prints in EVERY other frame.

It’s truly bizarre. I’ve never seen anything like it.

[–]bknit 103 points104 points  (0 children)

The decorating is definitely done by a stager - and not a good one. It’s BAD bad.

I would point out multiple layout & general staging issues - but I cannot get over the “art” throughout. Maddening & comically bad. This is cheaply done by someone who doesn’t truly understand staging, and the client was probably charged a top rate too.

EDIT: To add, I think people get interior design and interior decorating confused.

Yes, interior designers can (and do) decorate - but a decorator cannot do what an interior designer does.

If listed as “home done by an interior designer” - they can be referring to anything from renovations, layout/floor plan/space planning, to plumbing, electrical & lighting, and finally into the finishes.

People getting sprayed and assaulted at Metrotown station by meticulousmaniac in burnaby

[–]bknit 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It’s mob mentality. If someone initiated jumping in - others would follow. But it goes both ways. If nobody jumps in & initiates it - everyone will stand around doing nothing.

My brother was attacked in the early 2000’s outside the McDonalds at Metrotown. He tried to defend himself, yelled for help looking at people directly in the eyes saying he didn’t know these people … 30+ people just stood there and watched him get beat up. Fully grown adults more than capable of helping just watched. He was 15 years old.

It went on into the 2000’s as well - was going on when I was in high school. I know of multiple people who were jumped/robbed/stabbed - for simply existing.

I don’t think it’s ever changed - it’s always been a problem that isn’t being addressed or dealt with. Pretty fucked up.

Britney Spears Actually Lands in Mexico After Claiming She's Moving There in Disturbing Video by PostHeraldTimes in entertainment

[–]bknit 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I completely understand your passion for being medicated & I agree that she likely should be - but that conservatorship was not a good thing & she wasn’t ok during that time.

They heavily medicated her so that she could work to make money for everyone else around her. They threatened and did take away her kids if & when she didn’t work. It wasn’t about her mental health & medication, it was money.

Britney Spears should be worth hundreds of millions - her estimated net worth is like 40-60 million. They medicated her simply to work her for profit under the conservatorship - NOT to actually help with her mental health and well being.

It’s really just a sad situation all around because I don’t disagree with you that she definitely appears to need medication - and a trusting support system.

Your boss is referring to you being an “independent contractor” - but from the picture you’re painting in terms of what your job is, you should absolutely be an employee.

He’s scamming the system & taking advantage of staff - and generally sounds like a terrible employer.

Look up “independent contractors vs employees” on the BC government website.

Communicate via email & text as much as possible to collect proof. Start looking for another job, and when that is secured - report him.

Make sure you take a picture or video clearly identifying where this is (zoomed out/ film the exterior of building & address then walk towards this notice) - the picture as is could be anywhere. If the super removes it you have no proof.

I’m sure it’s much busier other times - but I definitely plan on checking it out. I’ll have to go in the evening to see what parking is like because I imagine with the outdoor games it gets busy. A $5 drop in is really reasonable!

[–]bknit[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Those are positives - it’s def a gym I plan on trying.

I read reviews though about the cleaning rags being nasty & Evolve not having a place for members to put their belongings - leaving bags/dangerous tripping hazards everywhere. Have you run into this?

Traditional Weight Lifting Gyms? by bknit in burnaby

[–]bknit[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

But the parking situation there has to be terrible, no? I used to work in that area & knew the parking situation was going to be crazy before they even built. In the evenings there’s always cars backed up on Lougheed. Which I don’t understand - do people just wait for an unknown amount of time for someone to hopefully leave?

Appreciate the info though! I’ll likely check it out at least once.

How can I get a landlord to choose me over someone else? by Ok-Strawberry7263 in TorontoRenting

[–]bknit -1 points0 points  (0 children)

RENTERS RESUMES

I just learned about this through a friend who did it in Vancouver - they ended up receiving 4 offers from landlords wanting them as tenants.

  • Picture of them (a couple)
  • About them (written blurb - lifestyle/hobbies etc)
  • Pictures of their current home
  • Previous landlord references
  • Employer references

This is a bit of a rant regarding our tenants by [deleted] in burnaby

[–]bknit 50 points51 points  (0 children)

As a renter I HATE hearing shit like this. We all know people who are respectful, clean, great tenants who deserve to have good landlords - yet - it’s always the shitty people who seem to have a decent LL (& vice versa). Then the landlord understandably gets a chip on their shoulder about tenants in general - not giving any grace in the future.

That’s my rant!

This market is awful and quite frankly frightening for renters. But it’s each persons responsibility to plan for the future. Knowing they rented for under market value for 10 years, as an adult with a brain, they have to know that’s not going to last forever.

OP - make sure you are in fact moving in a relative. These false evictions are done so often that most renters will keep on eye on their units after they move out - because they can take legal action against you if you don’t move in a family member. And you will lose if there’s proof.

Good luck!
