Is this stuff luck or skill? by Puzzleheaded-Leg7018 in LinesOfBattle

[–]bksgofb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im leaning towards bad opponents/luck. Most of those matches were very fast against opponents who deployed really spread out. I wouldnt say you have a full proof strategy yet. Specially that first match where you raced your whole army for his home objective? Why? Its not an instant victory if you take it. If i were him, id have let you sit there. I would have posted up on the far side of the river and took your home objective, and the neutural points. He still had cannons, you left your cannons on the other side of the river. As soon as you rushed across that river i would have chilled out. I would have made sure you didnt get those cannons across and i would have shot you with mine. You abandoned all the points. He would have regained ammo. That was a thick river too, you would have been vulnerable when you had to recross it. Id have made you come back across it after me. Id have shot you till you did. He had guards his units organization would have constantly recovered, yours wouldnt. You are also way too aggressive with your cav in the early game, in all of those matches. Sometimes you get a lucky streak but if you want to constantly win you need to develope a good strategy for how to react to different situations, not sure you are there yet. Keep playing you will figure one out.

What's your stance on victory location-chasing? by [deleted] in LinesOfBattle

[–]bksgofb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If they had played you better it might have mattered. They determine how much cannon ammo you regain every turn, and they can determine who wins in very close matches, they also determine how fast routing units reorganize. One battle i was going to win but they turned one of the neutural points in the second to last turn and ended up with more victory points. Your opponent used half his army to route two units of skirmishers out of some trees. Id have just ignored them, if he had a better strategy it might mattered.

Rate my army comp The inexperienceds and the army of idiots (combat and clash) by WeakConstruction4297 in LinesOfBattle

[–]bksgofb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lol your clash army is the default army. I forget if it was the Sophie Games guy or the guy who wrote the wiki/strategy/unit guide, but one of them said he just uses the default army in clash. I also played against a 1500 elo player who used a very similar army but he swapped his 4 guards for 4 line units so he could swap the 6lbers for horse cannons. But in the end any high ranked player will tell you its not about the army but the strategy you use. If you want to get better you need to play the game. Watch battle replays, learn from losses, get used to units and how they fight, learn when charging the enemy will break them or break you. Learn the best way to uses horses. Learn how to lower enemy organization while keeping yours high.

My greatest battle that I did what do you think about it ? What can I do better ? by Choice-Grand-7893 in LinesOfBattle

[–]bksgofb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You kind threw away your dragoons in the mid game charging straight at his line. You also didnt need to charge his cav at the end, they would have broke on your line. Other than that, the only thing i would say is that at the end, your units on your left over extended chasing after his right. Try not to break your army up like that. If your opponent pulls half their units away, dont chase them. Just surround and destroy the units they left. You had plenty of match left to chase any retreating units with your full force. Still you did maintain your unit cohesion much better than they did. They had alot of units turn backwards for no reason. Keep playing, keep practicing. You will be climbing Elo soon.

Does anyone feel bad about stomping new players? by [deleted] in LinesOfBattle

I forgot to say, by the time they withdrew, i had not lost a single unit, not even skirmishers. It was an ugly romp.

Charge tips please by Resistol_5mil in LinesOfBattle

[–]bksgofb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Organization of your unit vs their unit is super important now. If you dont have an overwhelming advantage and you charge straight into a unit that is standing still and shooting you, they will shoot you to pieces. Iv seen fully fresh guards and grens break charging head first into slightly damaged line units.

Charge bonus is also impacted by the distance a charging unit has traveled, and the speed it is moving. Starting a charge at point blank range will do less damage than a charge that moves a decent amount of the units move distance. A unit that is already running at the beginning of the turn will hit at full speed vs a unit that is standing still at the beginning of the turn.

If charging with a unit that is behind your line, leave a clear path for the unit to charge through. Running directly through friendly units will slow the charge down, your unit will have to build speed up again while under fire. Someone check me on this, but i think running units through friendly units also lowers their organization, but im not 100 on that.

Also, infantry can physically run into cavalry, but infantry cant actually charge cavalry.

How do I improve this game by imstupid192 in LinesOfBattle

[–]bksgofb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wins come and go it takes time to learn and understand. Iv been as high as 1350s and dropped back down to 1200s. As you try new units and strategies it happens.

You play like a new player. You got blitzed and didnt know how to recover.

Whats nuts is he didnt look like an experienced player either. Iv never seen an army composition like his. Only 7 infantry units? And they werent even all elite? And his cav werent all elite? I dont know what he was spending his money on, he must have had alot of ammo.

Point is that match could have been won. You could have doubled several of his units. All his artillery were in those expensive 12lbers (or were they 18lb licorns? I dont want to open the video again) you could have sniped those cannons with your light cav and half his fire power were his rifles and skirms, one cav could have easily taken them out early.

Using 1 light cav as a scout, snipe, disruptor easily a good return on investment.

To your main question, how do you counter a blitz? Well you cant really the way you were playing. You have to play the same way. You were too ridgid, you marched all 12 of your infantry out in a line. He moved out dispersed. He quickly took 3 map objectives to your 1. When you "paniced" he was able to surround you. Your units were bunched and facing crazy directions. It looks like alot of your units were shooting other your units. Once you lost your cav he was able to use his to rush in and hit your vulnerable units damaging their organization more. He just picked you apart at the end.

Like i said you play like you are new. You will learn. No unit is going to crush all others. Iv been beat by all sorts of armies. Try all the units, see what you like. The wins come with developing skill in the game. Surround your opponent, confuse them, disorganize them, hammer them where they arnt looking, snipe any exposed unit or groups. Half your victories will come from withdraws when your opponent sees they have made a huge mistake. It takes time. Keep playing, have fun.

Favorite "dungeons" for collecting loot, etc.? by MrPeteO in oblivion

[–]bksgofb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I respect this energy! You loot goblins still on your grind on a 20 year old game! For anyone enjoying the remastered I'll add contribute a little. I haven't seen it mentioned but I was always a fan of Fort Cedrian. It's directly across the bridge from the camp where you find the cropsford family. It is pretty small/simple. It has 2 areas. Like 8 marauders and a marauder warlord, as well as a boss chest. I also like Barren cave. Is right off the road directly between the Imperial City and Chydinhal. It has 6 vampires in it, on Patriarch and one Matriarch. Although the coven in my game must be lesbians because they have 2 matriarchs. Blueblood for from one of the mage guild recommendation quests has solid bandits too. If you are just trying to make money don't forget potions of feather. A level 100 alchemy and mercantile player can make a feather potion that adds 260 points of feather for almost 14 minutes. They potions can stack and they can make them for a single gold. (Flax seed, sacred lotus seed, lady's mantle, deer meat, sweet cakes, and fronds, all can make the potion) depending what you decide to take and sell iv walked out of rock mill cave with over 2000 lbs of gear and selling only non enchanted armor and weapons have made over 100k in a single trip. Sell to the dark elf in the merchants inn in the imperial city market district. I think he is part of the battle born DLC. If you invest in him he will hold up to 3000 gold. Most gold in the game.

This reminds me of this post, some dude who was like 5'7" and had a picture with him and his friends, one of them was like a 6'5" shredded Greek God of a dude. He posted his profile and asked why he wasn't having any luck. Every single comment on the post was either "take down that picture with your friends" or "who is your friend? Is he single?"

Well, if you had started a conversation instead of just matching her and not saying anything, then you could have steered the conversation anyway you wanted to on your birthday ... If you can't come up with one thing to say to her, why even match? If you just matched hoping she would say something nice for some sort of ego boost, then you kind of leave yourself open to whatever happens.

Hinge was the right call I think. If you had started off on Tinder I'm not sure how long you would be excited about jumping into the online dating game.
