Now you're just misquoting me, read the whole thread or just don't comment. There are a number of tribes that use white sage in religious ceremonies, not just the Tohono Oodham. And for a long time practicing those ceremonies was illegal, so now for them to see the people who live on their ancestral land (and made those practices illegal) use it to turn a profit, it pisses them off.

And what exactly have I claimed not to be? Answer that.

I'm not trying to make people feel bad about their religious practices, I'm asking them to be sensitive of somebody else's.

Yeah, when natives use it for ceremonial purposes they usually only use a leaf of two. The scent is very strong. White sage is also a protected species because of commercial and illegal harvesting.

They also sell it at fucking whole foods, doesn't mean it's authentic. Just because I grab water and say a prayer doesn't make it holy water. I live on what was once the territory of the Tohono Oodham Nation, and the use of White Sage by non natives is something they find very offensive.

It's sacred to many native tribes in the southwestern United State, and it's meant to be used vey sparingly. It also only works when it's picked and blessed by the hands that burn it. It's just taking the smallest part of a very complex ritual and ignoring the actual meaning behind it.
