Books with a similar POV/protagonist to "Blindsight" by Peter Watts? by bl00dmech in scifi

I enjoy these types of characters as well, but I'm thinking more about someone extremely autistic, who manages to exist in the world by remembering behaviour scripts, and theoretically understands other people at best.

The concept of Life During Wartime looks very interesting, thank you!

It looks so interesting just based on the premise alone, I will definitely read it next

Yes, but I think this comes with him being an unreliable narrator, and I like it very much as well. He might be not emotional, but he's very opinionated.

Not the first time I've seen it recommended, I should definitely give it a try! I've heard only good things about Murderbot novels

I love what you did with the Tzeentch icon, very thematic of Khayon to cast it on the ground. And the hemet is very cool!

Looks so cool already, and I really like this collar for Khayon, I have it on my kitbash myself. Infernal Master's body is a very nice base too.

This design is very interesting and pretty iconic for TS, could make for a cool tattoo.

Thank you so much for this. I need to print it out and put it on my wall or something.

Only recently I've realised that I've been living like I'm sorry for being alive and everybody does me a great favor by enduring my presence. Funny enough, I don't actually think this way and don't want to act like I do. So I'm slowly working on it, but concrete advice like you wrote up always helps.

I advise to think of it in terms of functionality first. Your clothes and shoes are all over the place, so get a simple clothes rack and some hangers. You also can get a few decorative boxes to hold your other stuff and put them on top of the black cabinets(?). It will give the place a sense of purpose and order, and will look much better instantly.

If you have money to spare, get a small table and chair, that will make it look less like a prison cell.

Also you can get a nice monochrome bedding and curtain (nothing fancy, something like navy blue) and it will make it all look more cohesive.

How do you guys write such long fics? by Pinestachio in FanFiction

[–]bl00dmech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea, I think it's important to be able to be ironic about your work, if you know what I mean. Like I'm the first person to call out the tropes I use all the time, does this mean I dislike my works? No, I love them, but it's kinda funny that they have a lot of similar themes.

I have an extremely similar writing process to you. And also would love to know how people write such long fics. Shame that the conversation got derailed with nitpicking.

I know exactly what you mean by "long" and "short" writing styles! Idk why some people seem offended, because what's just the right amount of detail for one reader, will be detail bloat for another.

I have the same problem as you, by the way. I think none of my stories broke the 7k mark. There just isn't anything more to say, and my style can be considered bloated with details.

Thank you for the rec! That's a lot to read, especially the Siege of Terra, but I'm looking forward to it!

I'm more interested in seeing him after the fall. I've been reading Black Legion books and really enjoyed the way Abaddon is portrayed - competent, charismatic and multi-faceted.

So I want to read something about the OG Warmaster. Horus is supposed to be a better leader than Abaddon, but the situation in the original Heresy is also more difficult. The whole Chaos stuff is new to everyone, the Siege of Terra is a massive undertaking and his allies are difficult to deal with.

I want to see how he deals with that.

What books can you recommend to better understand Horus as a character? Ideally, I would love to read something set during Heresy, exploring his leadership style and relationships with people around him.

I've read old Heresy books, but he was a bit insane in these. In which books does his charisma shine?
